Access to solonoid How To
« on: April 11, 2024, 02:37:31 PM »

Need I have to remove the LH  structural plate that mounts foot pegs also to reach the solenoid?  I want to piggyback a wire to an aux starter button under the seat but cannot seem to reach it.

The bolts that you see have to come out and there’s one down the bottom IIRC.
The gear lever has to come off, requiring removal of that little black cover over the spline, but that’s good, because you can grease the pivot..(and probably replace the dry from new, worn out bush…)
I’ve had mine off to replace/grease/adjust the swingarm races.
But as mentioned before, I have had my starter off by doing nothing more than disconnecting the cable and solenoid wire, then undoing the two bolts holding it on.
It WILL come out.

Huzo,  Thanks for your input, does Australia have that many numbers in a cell phone number?
*Success was achieved a different manner.  I was able to access the starter solenoid spade easier by building a very long ratchet xtension to reach in under the Norge fairing lowers to remove the starter and have access to attach a wire to the solenoid spade for my aux start button without undoing the LH frame cover and footpeg/shift mechanism.

Will we see you in June at the US National Rally?

The +61 is in place of a (0)
In Oz, it would be 0437 070 946
Well done on the solenoid thing.
I don’t know what’s up yet with the trip, I have spent a bit of cash getting my instructor rating back in gliders.
