Daytona RS computor chip
« on: May 19, 2024, 04:50:49 PM »
I just purchased a 1997 Daytona RS. The chip in the computor is labaled DAYR11. this chip looks like the main chip. To the right of that chip toward the gas tank there looks like another chip that looks like it is labaled EOV TAPPO. The EOV is hard to read, It could say something different. does anyone have any information about these chips?

Will Creedon is the Centauro, Daytona chip guru. I used to have his email address, but can't find it. Someone here may have it.

DAYR11 is the tuning /mapping chip. Don't mess with the other one. That's one if Wills chips. A older version. You should ne good to go. You can find will at the Centauro Owners Group. Forum.

Yes, it is an early version.  DAYR18 is the latest Creedon chip for a US specification Daytona RS.

Send Will a message and ask him directly on which issues you are experiencing. Will is a super nice guy, and he should be able to help you out and get your bike's issues sorted out.

The Daytona RS that I just purchased has a center stand and CF rear fender hugger. Were these factory options?

Carbon fiber bits were all aftermarket. There was no rear mudguard as standard. Pictured is my bike with Stucchi CF fenders and alternator cover. Exhaust consists of the stock headpipes with a Stucchi crossover and Lameroni exhaust canisters. I got the seat cover, euro fairing and headlight from a board member.

The stand in the pic is also aftermarket. There were a few different versions.

My CF rear hugger looks just like yours. My crossover looks like a Stucchi. The bike also has a CF alternator cover and came with an extra CF front fender. But the center stand is mounted to the bike, like on a BMW.

Turin,   Where did you find the velocity stacks, I bet they sound great. I'd like to buy a pair. How does your bike run with them? Your bike looks great also.

“I got the seat cover, euro fairing and headlight from a board member.“

Leafman had a NOS Euro fairing/headlight and I bought that from him but foolishly passed up a NOS tank.

Is Leafman a member or a outlet for parts. Is there any NOS for these bike still available? A Euro fairing would be great

Leafman is a member. He sold me the bodywork. Private stash. I got the velocity stacks from sport cycle pacific. They used to race a modified centauro and made these bits for a while. They are NLA from that source.

Hi, guys!  I'm still around but I don't check in here often enough, I guess.

I enjoyed my Daytona RS for several years but eventually sold it. It ended up in the possession of Blackcat here who still has it.

I had installed a Will Creedon chip in the RS early in my ownership of the bike and it made a huge difference in the running of the bike. I conversed a time or two with Will by phone back then and he was a very friendly, polite and helpful person.

I made several other mods to the bike to improve its power delivery but always kept the appearance totally stock.

I bought the bike with only about 6 miles on it from a guy in Northern Wisconsin, near Appleton.  He had purchased it new and had kept in on display inside his house along with two or three other collectible bikes (I don't remember what those were).

To avoid risking a third party handling the bike, I drove up to Wisconsin from Alabama in a Chevy Tahoe with a motorcycle carrier on back to pick up the bike and on my way back had a traumatic experience. At one point, I had stopped at a toll booth on the road.  A tractor-trailer truck behind me failed to stop in time and plowed into the rear of my vehicle with the Daytona on back.  In the mirror, I could see the Daytona leaning over severely and I knew it had been mutilated.

I was incredibly shocked after jumping out to look and find not a scratch on the bike or my Tahoe.  The truck's bumper had caught only the heavy-duty rail of the carrier and forced it forward in its clamps for about a foot. The truck never touched the bike or my Tahoe. In a fit of rage I chewed the ass off the truck driver anyway and he took off around me.

I carefully loosened the carrier rail clamps and I think someone else helped me gently slide the Guzzi Daytona back into proper position.  I  cautiously resumed my trip home watching my mirrors as much as looking forward.  I completed the trip up and back within 48 hours.

My RS was horrible to ride before I got one of will's chips.

He also makes a chip for the C-kit cams. He's done a real service for any Guzzi owner with a 16M ECU
