Updated-Getting a title for a Frankenstein build
« on: August 27, 2024, 12:07:23 PM »
I’d like to build a bike from parts and don’t have a good frame. Anyone have a frame and it’s title they’d be willing to sell? it’s a combo v1000g5, 850t3 and 850t
Thx
Allen

I’m building a bike from parts and don’t have a spare title. Anyone have a title and badge they’d be willing to sell?  Frame is one of guzzipowers uber tonti with the lower rails deleted, it’s a combo v1000g5, 850t3 and 850t
Thx
Allen

I not a lawyer but I think this might be a little bit illegal.

I know here in People's Republic of Pennsylvania if you got caught using a title/VIN from one vehicle on another you would get to know how the legal system operates.

I have two Tonti frames that I'd like to get rid of >FREE<, but neither has a title.

As long as you have the title that goes with the frame. California also uses and checks the engine ID number.

Edit: Although when I moved here from Colo my R90/6 had a '74 frame and '76 engine. The '76 had been wrecked and reframed with the '74. I got it from a dealer so everything was ok with the DMV in both states. It is possible that it may have had a salvage title, I didn't pay a lot of attention.

If they have a VIN you can probably apply for a title.

I bought a pop-up camper many years ago and the seller said it didn't need a title.  I went down to the DMV and sure enough they registered it in my name off the Bill of Sale.  A year later I upgraded and sold the camper to my coworker who tried to register it in his name and the DMV said "Where's the Title?"  Had to pay some money for a Surety Bond and apply for a title and all was good.

Yes, been there, done that. But, I don't need a Tonti frame with or without a title. It's a lot harder than that in MD though. I've used https://www.saintsengine.com/services/title-service/ twice.
