V85 Strada lightened
« on: December 28, 2024, 10:57:25 AM »
The Strada is lowered and none the worse for it. It's an incredably stable bike that handles well in corners. Now it's lost 4Kg thanks to some incredibly nice stainless exhaust tubing from Mistral. Yes expensive but feel the quality my boy.

They are 4Kg lighter than the original and are fully homoglamated with a cat in the end section where it joins the exhaust box

Easy to fit, once you remove the left pillion footrest hanger and the front mudguard (if you have the center stand fitted). Now it has a deeper exhaust note but not louder.

So there is actually a cat in there? No retuning required??

It's a much smaller cat. See 1st photo. It lives between the O2 sensor (hole on top near end) and the end of the tube.
I'll let you know about the tuning but suposidly not.

A couple of guys who do a Sportster Utube channel say it makes absolutely no difference. I concur. I had a 2017 Harley Slim and I can say that factory stock the sounds it made would make a sewing machine proud. First thing I did was get another set of mufflers and painstakingly beat the cats out of them. Made no difference in sound or power. I then modified the baffles for a little more rumble. Didn't make much difference in the fueling which was even terrible in stock condition. I should have had it Dyno tuned but I traded it for my Audace which was better but not great.

With my Aprila V-2 it's the best free upgrade you can do..I did 3 of them so far, and the upgrade did not need any mapping done..The lower temps on the feet/ankles was another huge benefit.  In fact my friends Bike responded better then the Akra slip-on cans he was running.. Cats are in the link pipes/muffler area.. Because cat removal does not work on a Harley, does not mean anything as far as other Motorcycle go..

I can confirm the sound had changed. It's now deeper but not necessarily louder. From previous experience I am expecting less heat and some improved oomph, as the Minstral's are full bore rather than the MG reduced bore

All good to know. My main interest would be less weight. Wouldn’t mind a bit more sound. I can barely hear it at normal cruising RPMs. I would be curious if adding a slip on would add even a few more DB? I use the engine sounds to determine shift points rather than looking at a tach.

I did a similar thing with my ‘85.
This is a Mivv muffler and sounds crisp with a bass tone.
