New Moto Guzzi Dealer in CT

Surprised to see a new Moto Guzzi dealer opening in Fairfield, CT—Motoplex Fairfield https://www.motoplexfairfield.com/

To be fair, it’s an all-Piaggio family affair, as they will be selling and servicing Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi bikes.

Given the general paucity of Guzzi dealers, it’s a welcome sign.

But while I love and want to support just about any Italian motorbike effort (especially for Guzzis, and Vespas as well), it’s odd that they’ll be within throwing distance of Hamlin Cycles (20 miles away).

Hamlin's is legendary for their Guzzi dedication and expertise, embodied by owner/rider/wrencher/Guzzi-guru Jim Hamlin himself.

I’m personally “out of the market,” having bought two beautiful Guzzis from Jim—my 2016 V7II Stornello and my 2022 V85 Guardia d’Onore—which I ride regularly.

But it’s an impressive effort, and I hope results in more Guzzis on the road—and not internecine battling.

Don’t dealers have some kind of territorial claim, or am I thinking of car dealerships? Or am I just come completely off.

Regardless, unless the dealership has Jim’s blessing, it’s a little frustrating to see the manufacturer do what appears to be a dirty to a longtime and well-liked Guzzi shop.

I agree 100% and can't imagine Jim would be anything but upset over this.

I know of a Guzzi/Ducati dealership (long since defunct), with an exclusivity promise when they took on Ducati, that had a Kawasaki dealer become a Ducati dealer ~25 miles away within 9 months.  That dealer scrimped on the Ducati PDIs, and because their techs weren't familiar with Ducatis, the warranty claims went to the Guzzi/Ducati dealer.

Apparently exclusivity agreements aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

Just one more reason why they have no dealers. They just screwed Jim without batting an eye!

Knowing Jim as well as I do I imagine he'll be doing most of the work for those buyers soon enough.
it's just not possible to replicate his knowledge and experience.  Some will find out though that he suffers no fools, ever.

New MG dealers are trained on the new models. They are not able to service or handle problems with the older models. That being said I hope MG advised Jim what they were doing. Otherwise that is an insult to Jim and his dedication to MG.
