Turn signal flasher, NAPA ok?

My Bassa's turn signals didn't work when I rode it home. It has a NAPA brand flasher. Any reason why I shouldn't replace it with a NAPA one vs. this one?

I would go to auto store and get an electronic one. They keep working. Even from NAPA.

You have to be careful. Some electronic ones don't support the LED signals. I was disappointed to find that to be true when I bought an electronic one from MG Cycle a good while back. They no longer carry it. I think I got the one that I finally used from superbright LEDs.

Something like this will work. Not sure if your flasher is 2 or 3 pole. Note the "For LED" also works with regular bulbs.

I bought one like what Charlie listed, but for whatever reason it did not work even though it said it would in it's listing. I'm sure it was a different brand than Charlie's listing.

Im not sure how the two wire relays work with LEDs, it doesn't make sense to me.
I would go with a 3 terminal LED flasher they should work with LED or Incandescent bulbs.

It is a cuboid 1 1/8 inch on a side and fits in the black rubber holder for the original cylindrical flasher:





I bought the cheaper black version on the same page and had to return it for the red one to get things to work. Tricky but worth it in the end.

I'm sorry to say the one you ordered looks just like the one I got from MG Cycle that didn't work for LEDs. It is electronic in its control system somewhere, instead of relying on a bi-metallic strip, I think. But that doesn't make it sufficient. The AI summary of the comments on your new flasher says this:

Customers find the flasher relay easy to install with a plug-and-play design and works well with incandescent signal bulbs. However, the LED compatibility receives negative feedback, with multiple customers reporting it doesn't work with LED bulbs. I'd recommend saving yourself a headache and returning it via prime, then getting the red one in my previous post.  EDIT: I see you got it from eBay, and not Amazon Prime. Good luck!

I've used at least a dozen of those Amazon flashers with LEDs and haven't any issues. AI isn't always right...

Yes, but you and I are always right. And I have had problems. So did other reviewers as summarized by AI. Go figure!

Those came from Parts Unlimited off all places. Disappointing. Didn't last long in the offerings.....

I had the one Charlie recommends, put it in my T140V. Worked GREAT, much better than the Lucas one. I dont have LED turn signals or LED bulbs in them, just 1156 incandescents. If you don't have LEDS then get it.
Because of where/how it was mounted (springy thing under LH side cover) and an overly vibratty Brit Bike, they did not last more than a few months.

I spent way much more and bought the auto canceling Kisan flashers for all my bikes. They work as advertised and add the safety of not allowing me to ride around flashing an incorrect signal. When you get busy in a new area with traffic and less than perfect navigation it's easy to forget to cancel a signal. The Kisan is a $110 insurance policy to protect you from the hazard of someone believing your incorrect signal and pulling into your path.
