Taller Norge shock?
« on: April 21, 2025, 03:56:45 PM »

I have located a used  13" shock but it is 1/2 inch longer than stock Sach unit.   Has anyone had experience with installing a taller shock on their Norge?

I know it will cause the saddle to be a bit taller but I am wondering if it materially changed your handling to feel unstable?

IMHO,  any raise in the needs needs to be matched at the front otherwise you are changing the rake and trail of the bike.  Raising the rear without raising the front will typically make the steering "quicker" but slower to return to a neutral line. head shake can occur if rake and trail change is sizable.

side note, if a longer shock is added and then sag is set so the bike returns to original rake/trail values, the result is typically that you are back to the original shock travel.
Nothing much better than a Tannat from the Salta region.

Reach out to Jim Hamlin at Hamlin Cycles. He is the absolute expert on suspension for the carc Guzzis.

I also think that also is partially true using sag setting technically but was hoping to hear from anyone who has actually done it?
