Alternative risers for my V85 TT
« on: April 27, 2025, 10:16:16 PM »

Fellas, I don't like . the idea of high euro prices for a set of risers with the corresponding expensive shipping.  A fellow on fb mentioned that I could use +1” risers for fat bars found on Amazonfor the TT.

Any thoughts from my Guzista famiglia?

I bought these two weeks ago for $15. delivered with tax. As always search for a better deal from Alli. They fit perfectly and look great. All the others this size need the holes drilled a bit because Guzzi used an odd size. I have the high buck Heli bar one on my other V85 and I like this one better because you can still reach the key OK. With the Heli it's burried.

I also put on this keyless gas cap. The three mounting screws are too short, so I used the original ones. I will try to find a better match someday.

I bought a pair of Rox Barback risers from another member here that had them on his v85.  The result for me was insufficient slack in clutch cable, etc. without doing some other mods (cover panels at steering head, etc.).  Maybe I could have done more by removing the tank and more thoroughly inspect cable routing to determine if there was in fact a few inches more to play with to facilitate riser installation without stressing cables & wiring but I didn't.  So, I ended up rotating the bars back to me a few degrees and so far it is acceptable.  I may try to revisit the bar riser installation if I end up removing the tank for whatever maintenance reason.

Hey Vagrant, could you send me a couple of photos of those risers on your bike?

I put adjustable Rox risers on my V100. With those you could try different up, down, back and forth to get a position that you like. I am happy with mine, they weren't too expensive, around $80, not much considering I spent $16,000 for the bike plus more in dealer and government fees.

I went with the ROX non adjustable 1-1/2" risers and didn't have any issues with cables.  They have a set in their scratch and dent area right now for $60
If you can beat them, arrange to have them beaten.

Would you have a Rox part number for them?

Hey G,

Thanks! I believe I have the Rox 3R-B17R-15K.  Rox indicates it doesn't fit the v85.  My experience was that the risers fit the hbar and factory riser but found insufficient clutch cable & wiring slack.  With the Rox risers I bought for my vstrom, Rox indicated that the front brake line would not be long enough, to use their riser a different brake hose would be required.  So, I'm wondering why Rox indicates their 3R-B17R-15K does not fit the v85.  Oh well, I guess I'll revisit this issue another time.  Glad they worked out for you!

Gosling, did you install those risers on a V85 TT.
I purchased the risers according to your saying that you used them on your bike.  Was that bike a V85 ?  Then I have no problem putting them on mine.  A later poster said that he purchased them and couldn't put them on because of the brake line being to short.

It would help me immensely if I knew you put them on a V85 TT.

I asked ROX about V85 fitment, their response is below.

We have not had one of those bikes in our shop to work on ourselves. I believe our 2 inch pivoting risers will bolt up on that bike, but you will need to double check the extra slack in your cables and lines. The link below are the risers I’m referring to.

I put a set of those on my Mandello. I don't remember where I got them but they were a lot cheaper than that.

Sure wish I'd have seen this before I bought the Helibars riser! The funky bolt spacing was the main reason why i didnt take a chance on the Aliexpress risers. My H&B handguards likely wouldnt play nice with those. Key access being buried with the Helibars piece is true. I flipped mine over and like the positioning much better, especially when standing.

I wish I could reverse my Heli risers, but I got them for short arm syndrome.
Since mounting the gas cap I have filled the tank 3 times. Love it. Being too lazy to go buy new screws I just took the other allen heads out of the stock cap and used them so they all match.

One other note on the Rox risers, I found that they increased helmet buffeting, go figure.
Wind management on the V85 was one reason I traded it for a different bike, YMMV

Maybe because the handguards are slightly further back??!!  Between the Calsci screen, Debyls deflectors, AliEx winglets and a new helmet I think my noise & buffeting are gone. :violent1:
