Side stand and electric questions for my Bassa

I'm reassembling my sidestand with a new locking lug. Which is the right way for it to be installed? Here are pics of the original one, and then of 2 ways the new one can be installed. I now know that this cleverly designed side stand is meant to not fold up if the bike is pointing downhill with it on the side stand. Seems like it would work better the opposite way that the original one was installed.









Also, there are 3 wires attached to each positive and negative terminal on my battery. Is this normal? I'm not used to a stock bike having more than one wire per terminal. There are no added components to the electric system on this bike, so I think it's the stock configuration. Seems weird.

As best as I can tell from my stock Bassa, it looks like the side stand should appear as in your photo #3, silver plated fixture with the high side pointed upward and to the back of the bike. In other words, the same alignment as your old one. Can send you a photo of mine if that will help.  As far as your wiring diagram to the battery is concerned, I've got a GPS wired directly to the battery (and perhaps some other stuff that the prior owner put on with his Power Commander idea and are not active??).  I'm not real good at interpreting wiring diagrams, but if you'll take a look at the Bassa diagram (thisoldtractor.com), I see three wires to the positive battery side (one goes to the voltage regulator, splits and goes to the ignition switch, second to the injection relay and the third to the starter motor).  Battery is grounded to the frame and to the voltage regulator.  Be forewarned, I am a complete novice at troubleshooting electrical issues of almost every kind.
