Stelvio 2010 generator / rectifier
« on: May 18, 2025, 11:29:15 AM »
Hi. I suspect the diode bride to be defective as the charging voltage is .7V lower than it is supposed to be. Charge voltage is 13.8V which could indicate one diode not working.

  • The big question is: Can the diodes be replaced or is it true what I hear that it's is a sealed unit and you replace the whole generator?
  • Second question: Can the generator be dismounted without removing the fuel tank?
I have been through a post about the Chinese generator, but that post did not have anything to du with the generator, they were only discussing whether or not it was a good idea to install a Chinese generator and................

Thanks in advance

An old customer of mine just had his Norge alternator rebuilt w/new bearings & rectifier. All CARCs have same alt, at least 3 manufacturers and most from China. You can get used ones reasonable. I would take it to an Alt rebuild shop, it's standard car stuff
Yes you have to remove tank to loosen a lock nut on pivot bolt on left side, loosen it on right side.
READ the Service book, it tells you how.
