new to forum and new to Guzzies

Hello all.
i have just become a very happy owner of a 2024 V7 Stone special addition with 700 miles on the clock.
this is my first Guzzi after only owning Jap bikes for the past 35 years.

does anyone have any advice/tips for a newbie?

Tips:

* Don't lug the motor.

And

* Make sure it warms up completely, especially in damp conditions. Meaning avoid short rides, but don't sit there idling it like a moronic Harley rider to "warm it up" because that won't do it.

i will do the maintenance myself. one of the reasons that i chose the V7 was how easy it is to work on.

In case you don't know what lugging is, don't make it work hard at lower RPMs. If the engine tries to rock the bike side to side, definitely shift down!

I don't know about the newer bikes (I like them from the 70s and 80s) but the ones I ride benefit from putting some pressure on the shift lever before shifting. It's like taking up the slack. Just as the engine speed is dropping and when the clutch gets released, it slips into gear smoother.

And just tickle the clutch lever, almost like not using it at all. Smooth quiet shifts.

its a completely different experience from the Jap bikes. the Guzzi feels more alive for want of a better way to describe it. and the ride is far more involved. much more feed back from the engine and a lot more gear changing to stay in the happy zone.
Englands roads are very winding with a lot of gradients, unlike the long straight roads i see in America on the tv.
i seem to be quite lucky because the gearbox on my bike is sweet as a nut. it goes into gear and finds neutral without any issues.

The modern 6-spd on these things is different than all the Guzzi 5-spds I've had (big or small block).
