Very poor rear brake
« on: May 25, 2025, 05:17:08 PM »
My v85 2022 adventurer.  Has very poor rear brake, check brake fluid bleed small amount of air(I think).  Have never changed brake fluid, that my next plane.  Paddles look good did order new pads two months from my dealer, haven’t got them yet.  I know times or hard and I got my Harley’s to ride. Take the pads out and dump the fluid Rudy.
Replenish the fluid and bleed the system.
As you are operating the rear brake, check that there is a slight swirl in the reservoir as the pedal is released, if not, it means your m/c piston is not retracting fully.
This is essential.
Press the slave cylinder piston back into the caliper and operate the pedal, the piston should pump out progressively…(don’t go too far).
Also clean and grease the pins that the rear caliper slides on. If the caliper cannot slide, you are only getting effect from one pad and brutally loading the disc.
Clean the disc thoroughly.
Try all that stuff.

Be aware, the MC is tiny, and it's very easy to get air in it. If you do, the caliper has to be removed and placed up higher than the ABS unit on the right side.

As seen before, if caliper mounts on a plate & caliper moves to activate pads, make sure it all moves otherwise brakes don't work well.
