This weekend is a mini "Celebration" of miles stones as the T-3 turned 50 in March and I will turn 70 in August. THe Monsoon season is starting but have a reasonably dry forecast for today through Sunday. I did ride in a few light showers and sprinkles this afternoon. Took HWY 66 which I can connect to about five miles from our home to Moriarty then had to run I-40 for about 50 miles until getting off at HWY 3 going North. As usual I-40 sucked. The first picture is gassing up at "Clines Corner". It is an old HWY 66 stop that has been there for decades. Don't ever let your kids inside there as they sell every trinket known to man.
Most of the first pictures were on HWY 3. Couldn't really get any good pictures of the best parts. Some old villages along the way that one could spend a lot of time exploring. Beautiful country, especially on the second half. It goes for 32 miles till it connect with I-25. Took I-25 to Las Vegas were I had a decent but not great Mexican lunch at the "Smiley Face". Took 518 from there to Mora which is where this neat old barn is at. Then went through Angel Fire, Eagles Nest and then to Cimarron for the night. The motel is a bit rustic but fits my needs except for no ice. May take more than one post to post the pictures.

Nice!  Hope you had fun and happy birthday/milestones for the T3 and for you.
I spent the day in my basement.  The biggest thing I did was take the carb off my DR650 and change the jetting slightly.  In other words- futzin' around.

Many years ago now, Dorcia and I "did" Rt. 66 from one end to the other with the Jack All rig. I had spent all winter researching the old alignments, and we took all we could find. Stayed in the old motels still surviving, ate at the restaurants, stopped at the museums, etc. She still says it was our best vacation ever.

Back in the ‘60s I traveled 66 a number times from LA to just west of Chicago while on leave from the Navy. It was still mostly two lane from Barstow to the New Mexico-Texas line with its unique motels and cafes. About ten years ago we rode the old stretch from Ash Fork to Kingman. I think the pavement was still original but most everything else was gone except for a few towns like Seligman which has tried the keep its old identity.

Day two started with the only breakfast choice, the Kit Carson cafe. Was good and reasonably priced. Primary goal was the enchanted circle around Mt.Wheeler. Red River was full of tourists as was Taos as one would expect this time of year. Okay, I am an old wimp. Not doing any distance riding this year I returned home today as I covered the main roads I wanted, my neck and shoulders were sore along with my left hand from clutching and my ass sitting. Did about 500 miles in two days which doesn't sound like much until one considers saddle time as average speeds in the mountains are 20-50 mph. The T-3 seat is not as comfortable as the Norge. Madrid was also full of tourists being Saturday. Also temps ended up 5 degrees plus over what was forecast so when I arrived at home it was 90. A few more pics. The town pics are Red River. Right pretty T3 there. Certainly a lot cleaner than mine. They are fun on trips. Take you anywhere you want to go with a minimum of fuss.

Mine is a '77 ('76 manufacture) and has speedo & tach with "idiot lights" down the center. Yours seems to have a Convert instrument panel. Was that stock, earlier, later? Enquiring minds want to know.

I also noticed round slide carbs & plastic manifolds. My square slides are wearing out. Was round slide implementation simple and no surprises? Good condition round slides readily available?

Thanks for the complements. My T-3 was a police bike and so that was the stock panel along with the longer kickstand and floorboards.
The 36mm round slides were added when I had the motor redone. Motor has the big bore kit, V-7 sport cam, ported and polished heads, heavier valve and clutch springs. The carbs have worked well. Very nice motor overall.
