V7 III Stone vs Special vs Rough Seats

I've been searching online and through the threads, but have only found subjective reviews, without objective information. Other than the aesthetics, what are the differences between the V7 III Stone, Special and Rough seats? I'm referring to padding, height, width, materials, etc.

It's not to say that I don't wish to know which of these stock seats is considered the most comfortable. I appreciate your assistance in advance.

I dunno but as a person who has had 7 different seats for my two V7 smallblocks I'm going to go with "the OEM seats usually suck".

I suspect any differences in size/shape/comfort are going to be strictly cosmetic or measured in RCH's (meaning they will be really tiny).

Edit - you say Stone, Special, Rough, but I see a racer in the image. One caveat I'll add is the most comfortable OEM seat I owned was off a Cafe Classic/Racer. It is actually a little different and better.

I’m pretty happy with the gel seat from Guzzi on my V7II . The oem seat on the V7/850 is pretty good also . Oh, forgot to mention, I use an Alaska sheep skin on both seats

Are the mentioned seats even interchangeable (without modifications)? I haven't seen any mention of having the same seat pan/base.
The popular aftermarket Corbin seat (pan) has been molded for specific bikes, based on the under seat shape of the rear mudguard and electrics/variations.
Unless prepared to alter the seat pan and/or transfer foam & cover to another seat, then your original query may not hold answers. Some people seem willing to accept ill fitting, aesthetically challenged compromises, however.

I would be shocked if Guzzi was as dumb as Corbin when it came to seat pans. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they were all identical across the various V7III and earlier models.

Agreed: you should be in a position to check, should you still have a fair quantity of your 7 seat collection.

Actually I've only got the two OEM seats and two Corbins in the garage right now. But the OEM MkI Stone and the OEM MkIII Carbon Dark seats fit both bikes identically.

I guess I could dig them out and look to see if they are the exact same pan or not. I'll put it on my list.

OEM seats are all made by Shad.  One could check part numbers.

I read that the Stone seat is less comfortable than the Special and Rough and that the nose of the Rough seat is narrower than on the Stone and Special. I figured that I'd inquire with the experts though.

I also read that all V7 seats are interchangeable with the exception of Corbin and 850 seats.

Now that could make a significant difference for us shorties.

Sorry for the late reply. Finally checked the two OEM seat pans for my:

* 2013 MkI V7 Stone
* 2018 MkIII V7 Carbon Dark

They are identical. Both pans carry the part # 978931

Though there are slight material/styling differences with the covers, I can't detect any meaningful difference in overall size/shape of the seating surfaces or seats themselves.
