More on the New Low-Displacement Parallel Twin Guzzi
« on: August 06, 2025, 09:00:52 AM »
I know there’s been at least one previous discussion on the forum, but I didn’t find it to add onto.

A GOOGLE search shows a couple recent articles about the supposed new Moto Guzzi with the Aprilia motor.

Link to one article:
https://www.bikewale.com/news/aprilia-rs457-derived-moto-guzzi-modern-retro-bike-under-development/

Some of the photos:

Personally, I’m fine with the Moto Guzzi marquee having multiple engines under its name, but clearly hoping they can continue to retain an air-cooled V.

But if this is the overall design they’re heading toward, I’ll find it somewhat humorous that they claim the tank design and tail light as the Guzzi heritage over just a retuned, tubular steeled Aprilia. Just tell us you’re doing the KTM-Husqvarna thing. Then again, it could very well be that they don’t have the U.S. in mind for this particular bike. Who knows.

Shades of the DeTomaso era Benellis rebadged as Guzzis fiasco.

Surprised it's taken this long. I made the claim they would be moving in this direction when the Shiver was released.

Maybe with a 90 degree crank it might sound like a Guzzi.

Keep in mind that Aprilia designed and built BMW’S Funduro series alongside their own Pegaso, so at least this time they’re staying under the Piaggio tent.

I would’ve been more excited if they had put that parallel twin—or a single cylinder—into a scrambler to compete with the inexpensive Triumph Scrambler 400X or  Royal Enfield Bear

It makes sense to me.  The small cc market is the hottest these days, and Guzzi is complete void of anything to fill it right now.

I would rather have the 450/550 motor from 07 or so. That was a motor with hp but only good for 1000hrs. In the end if you bought a new one you would get 2 one w/no numbers on block or chassis.

Now hold on....

This angle reveals what to me is the TT tank (which harkens to the early V7 tanks) and the rear light looks 8V Stelvio ish...

The tank could very well be only for disguise.

I think they used the V85TT tank for initial design. If you look at the spy shots I shared, it’s not the same as what was in the earlier pics.

Besides, I think the 6 gallon fuel capacity of the V85TT tank is a bit much for what this bike is attempting to be, eh?

Ahhh, didn't realize that the other photos represented a progression of design.

yes. TT capacity seems innappropriate. they could go with a shape yet smaller

It'll be interestins to see what they come up with. Then, what the marketing juggernaut that is Guzzi does when it's time to run with it.

All the 2025 V85 E5+ were actually built at the Aprilia factory...."Scorze" in those VIN numbers, not Mandello.   Mandello needed the room for the new water-pumper lines

You can tell it's not a Triumph 'cos someone had the foresight to cater for swingarm bobbins.
Looks as much like a Guzzi as a Lambretta.  :violent1:
Bring back a V40/50, I say.
