Amazon for tires?
« on: August 06, 2025, 11:03:31 AM »

Our sizes seems to be a bit problematic especially on later models like the EV.  Anyone order from Amazon for tires?

I have ordered a few tires from Amazon in the past year. I haven't had any issues. The tires were correct sizes and the date stamp was within the last 12 months. They don't always have the best prices, but there are some good deals.

I was able to get my shinko 705 4.10-18 from Amazon a few months ago but the 140/80-17 from eBay. Both were about $130. For my CalVin.

I've been using amazon for tires. The prices are cheaper then Cycle Gear. Dates are good, and shipping is quick. I just fit my cal III with bridgestone battlax's.

I've used American Moto Tire for years for my V11's and V7II. Dates are always good and free shipping. Last time I shopped for tires they were same price or cheaper than Amazon. They are located in AZ.

Over the years, I have ordered tires from just about everywhere.  Dennis Kirk has always shipped fresh tires.  It's a good place with fast service and good return policy.

But yes, one could get tires from Amazon with zero issues.

Years ago, I used to get everything from DK. But they stopped carrying relevant OEM equivalent parts for me especially snowmachine, and jacked up the cost of shipping to me. Was a deal breaker. Don't use them any more. Just saying.

Like most internet tire retailers they probably exist in cyberspace and drop ship from one of the several tire supply houses places around the country. All the tire retailers use them an it explains what a company based in California can get tires to my door step in Pennsylvania in 48 hours or less because they came out of Kentucky.

A few years ago I ordered a tire from Revzilla, it took forever to arrive. In the meantime I had my local shop order me one as I was heading out on a trip. I now get all my  tires from him. The Revzilla tire had a Drag Specialties stickers on it. My local shop gets his from drag Specialties from the warehouse in Sparks Nevada which is only 90 miles away, overnight delivery.

I ended up with American Tire as they had in stock the OEM Michelin Classic series for my 03 EV, especially the 150/70/17 size so I should be good for quite a while even as they do tend to be a bit spendy.  They beat DennisKirk who I have used before and was surprized that Amazon was not nearly as competitive on price as the a aforementioned.
thanks all for input.    Will feel a lot safer leaning this tractor over on the road without concern with new shoes on!

Just depends on which brand tire I am looking for. Recently, as in this past winter I ordered a set of Pirellis from Amazon as they had THE best sale price plus free shipping with Prime.

I bought a set, 180/55 rear and 120/70 front Pirelli Angel ST for under $250 for the set. Couldn’t find a better deal than that anywhere else.

If I’m after a set of Michelins….I shop around but typically the best prices I’ve found were through MotoSport or Amazon. These days it doesn’t seem there are deals to be had on any of the Michelins I’m after tho.

I’ve been a Dennis Kirk customer since before internet shopping was even a thing. Happy to keep them in business too.

Only time I go local is if I’m out of time or got a flat that’s not fixable. Even then Cycle Gear has been disappointing in both selection and sizing in that selection. I’ll leave it at that.

Just ordered best price from American Moto.  Beat Amazon, DK, J&P, etc for full set of OEM size.

I usually buy tires from American Moto if I am going to change them myself. I also get them from the independent shop just down the street if I have them change them like I just did on my Mandello because I didn't want to take a chance on scratching my gold wheels. He gets his tires from Drag Specialties which has a warehouse in Sparks (Reno) so they come in overnight. DS posted prices are suggested retail price so my shop's price is usually less. Well for my recent set I was charged retail plus mounting and balancing. So from now on I will be getting them online and do my own mounting and balancing. I just recently learned of using tape to protect the rims. So between my plastic protectors and tape I should be good to go. I got 9,000 miles out of the  original Angel GT's so it will be a while.

Chaparall motors on Amazon has done me well for the last 5-6 years, fast turn around, fresh tires, and always have the right size in stock.

Ever notice if one online retailer is out of stock on a tire it's highly likely most of the other online retailers are as well? Its because all the online retailers draw from the same wells. It also why most of the time prices are within a few dollars of each other.

That tire you bought from Chap Motor would have been the same tire had you order it from Amazon, RMATV, Dennis Kirk, RevZilla etc....
