Deer ,Red triangle
« on: August 28, 2025, 07:57:19 PM »
Hit a deer on way home from Ontario Rally ,took out right headlight ,turn signal, and fender .I didn’t go down and rode 200 miles home with a red triangle lit up on the dash of my 2014 Stelvio. Is it ok to ride with the red triangle and what does it mean?Any idea what ballpark repairs would cost at a dealer?

Perhaps the red triangle is just indicating the light out, try replacing it

Glad to hear it’s just damage to bike, not you.  Hopefully repairs won’t be too $$$$ or difficult.

Knowing very little about these models, I'm going with the theory that it's a deer impact indicator.

Resetting it may involve sacrificing a chicken, ideally free-range.

Congrats on not going down, I'll wager your pulse and other indicators changed as well.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Is the bike insured? If so its the insurers problem to figure it all out.

Glad you made it through unscathed.

Bike is insured, hoping for a totaled finding, bike is worth around 3000$ .Early morning on a beautiful wooded road near Peshtigo WI.my friend leading the way on what was the wrong road in more ways than one, going around 50.The deer was probably alerted when he passed and decided to bolt just as I arrived.AllI saw was a furry streak as it was almost past when its hindquarter jolted the right headlight and my right hand.As I slowed ,expecting to crash I was surprised to be coasting in the left lane and the bike was running so I rode to the right shoulder and parked. Not sure what the message is .last year in Wyoming I narrowly missed one by nearly the same margin, but not as lucky this time, although pretty damn lucky.Hoping for enough for a down payment on v9 or v85 next year.

I think your wish will be granted. In the states at least it takes very little damage for an insurer to call it a total loss no matter the value of the bike.

Nice job on evading the deer’s suicidal battle attack. Being from Pennsylvania, I’m surprised I’ve yet to encounter such a scare, although 90% of my miles have occurred farther away from the Deer Belt (TM).

I think the Stelvio has a menu option to read fault codes. Have you checked it?

You had a mighty effective guardian angle on your shoulder that day. Just pick out a new bike.

A guy I know just recently hit a deer going 70,him not the deer. He went down, broke a rib and banged up pretty well. Typically Harley rider wasn't wearing a decent helmet and messed up his face. I haven't talked to him yet. Glad you came out of it ok. Damn things are everywhere here, my wife drives to work at prime deer times, she even knows some individuals by sight.
