NGC FJR1300 intead of a Goldwing
« on: September 06, 2025, 08:41:31 PM »
I’ve been happy with my RE Super Meteor but wanted something more for 2 up slab riding.
I like the 2018+ DCT goldwing but just couldnt pull the trigger on that large of a bike so,…..

I bought a FJR1300 with the clutchless transmission

It’s not terriblly lighter but seems smaller and certainly eaiser to push around than the Goldwing, full disclosure though, the GW has reverse and walking forward

Oh well, the bike is a one owner and needs a little tlc but so far so good
Yes I keep the revs up and yes I’ve done u turns

In reflection, it helps that I have had both a convert and a dct Honda, that seems to help with the transition to this bike

FJR1300 - Heavy
Goldwing - Heavier

The problem is, as one gets older, an 871lb. bike, becomes less and less manageable.  Believe me, I know...
(2014 Victory Vision Tour)

So, at the tender age of 71, I am grateful to still be riding.  That's why I opted for a lighter bike, and at 443lbs., my 2025 Moto Morini 700 Calibro fits the bill nicely. :thumb: :boozing:

,

However, my butt was sore after 684 miles due to the stock seat, so I recently added a "Turtle-Head Gel Pad" which I believe will work better on my next long trip.

So, in the end, if you can manage to ride an FJR1300 and/or Goldwing safely and comfortably, good for you!
