Lurchy, uneven fueling at 3-4k in the rev range.

2010 V7 Classic.

Doesn't matter what gear it's in, it seems to lose power around 3-4k RPMs, then make it all back up in a rapid lurch forward, to result in very unsmooth riding. Part of the narrative: it was just at the dealer for help with a nonfunctioning horn, and they opened up that control housing assembly on the left bar to get at those electrical connections. I wasn't having this fueling/power problem on my way to the shop, but I was having it on the ride home.

I have another service appointment for them to look at it, but when making that appointment, the service writer (not that he really knows anything) couldn't imagine that the issue was some unintended consequence of trying to fix the horn. So I don't know.

Just wondering what y'all think, since I'm also beginning to wonder if these guys have any idea what they're doing. I've brought it to this place (Seacoast Sport Cycles in NH) a couple times now, and I honestly have not been particularly thrilled with the quality of the service I've received.

This is my first bike, I'm the third owner, and I've had it for over four years now. It was pretty beat up when I got it, and I got a good deal on it, but I think I've put again that same amount of money into it as well by this point, and I'm just wondering when enough is enough. It's been good because I've learned a lot about routine maintenance and motorcycle care, and I honestly love the thing and would be extremely reluctant to part with it, but I'm kind of at a point where I think I just want a motorcycle that works.

Anyways, that last part is just my little rant. If they quote me some absurd number for whatever repair they think it'll need, I might just call it a day. My local dealer in MA will give me $500 trade-in value for it, but if anyone on here more mechanically inclined than I am wants to beat that price and would be interested in a '10 V7C with a ton of character but which needs a little love, holler. There's no hard sell I could give anyone at this point except to say that the tires are brand new, and there are some nice aftermarket levers and mirrors on the thing.

Does your lever on LH bar work OK? Not the clutch but the throttle advancement (they call a choke) lever. Nothing in the electrics to cause that. There is a clutch switch by the lever, I wouldn't think that could cause run ability issue.

As it happens, Steve, that fast idle lever does not work. Well, the lever moves, but my fast idle has also been busted for a while now.

You're in New England.  Put it in a truck and take it to Hamlin Cycles.
Why GIVE it away?

Just thought of something, check the sidestand. If real loose there is a switch to shut off motor. Maybe the shop oiled it & now it's bouncing or rattling.
