Blood test. High absolute monocytes????
« on: October 16, 2025, 07:19:56 PM »
I had a CBC Blood test done and my absolute monocytes are outside the range.  They are high (1083).  Any doctors out there that can tell me what that means?

That's impossible to diagnose without looking at the rest of the test results.

Here's a link for information on monocytes only.

I’ve had a fever for two-three days in length once each month since May 2025.  I can’t get in to see my dr for another ten days.  That’s why I posted my CBC Blood tests here and I am concerned that the absolute monocytes are so high.  Any docs out here?  Thanks for any insight!!

Have you had the test panel for Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses?

I'm no doctor, but that's low-hanging fruit........

I am not a doctor, but was a nurse for many years, and what I have usually seen with increased monocytes is usually some low grade infection somewhere. It shows your immune system is fighting it.

I'm not a Dr. but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night, any way if your with Millennium (mega healthcare) run away and find a old school Dr.  Millennium will send you out for every test available and in the end, nothing...  But we got to send you to a specialist and dont worry your insurance covers it.   Like a dog chasing its tail.

Almost all of my blood tests come back with a half-dozen or so items out of range.  At 70, I'm beyond worrying about it anymore.  Heck, I just watched a bunch of videos that said all the "High Cholesterol" numbers were just a scam by big Pharma to sell statin drugs.  That statin drugs to lower cholesterol are basically worthless but made the pharmaceutical companies billions!

My doctor of 30+ years advised against taking statins for any reason whatsoever.

I love it!

Not too surprising, doctors are as human as the rest of us!!

Did your doctor have a motorcycle oil recommendation?

Remember when you went in to see the doctor and the doctor and half the nursing staff were smoking?

Now they don't smoke but most are obese!

I have a cartoon on my desk by Jerry King.  The setting is a Dr's office, with the patient sitting on the exam bench we are all familure with.  The Dr. is standing in front of him saying, "There's really nothing wrong with you, but I want a new motorcycle, so we are going to operate anyway!"
