Gap between final drive and rear hub on V11
« on: October 26, 2025, 04:16:03 PM »
What's normal? I'm reassembling after changing my carrier bearing and swingarm boot and I don't remember this gap being so big (~1/8") before disassembling. I've wiggled and turned the wheel but no change. I've even removed the final drive and done the same. Still no change. Seems too exposed to the elements.

My 01 looked the same after a dealer replaced the big front bearing. I rode it 50,000 more miles that way.

Looks normal.  We've had several discussions here but I can't find the right one.
This issue started with the '98EV.  Guzzi supplied a rear tire that just barely cleared the swingarm.  No problem until you replace the rear tire.  Every replacement was a little bit wider and would rub the tire against the swingarm.
Guzzi solution was to remove the hollow spacer tube from the rear drive and install another one a few mm longer thus spacing the tire away from the swingarm   It also spaced the wheel hub further away from the drive box.  Quite easy to tap out the old spacer tube and tap in the replacement.  It also required a similarly shortened brake anchor pin in the left side of the swingarm.

My gap returned to normal while tightening the axle nut. Wheel spins freely, so all seems good. I did buy one size narrower tires after reading how curvy road handling improves when you do.

I went from a 140 to a 130 on the rear of my 2001 Jackal.  Like it better.
