For those seeking to use balls or fluids to balance their tires, here is the science behind why it works. Some of the time.

Interesting video. I have never used beads but I have used RideOn for years. While in the video he states that highway speeds must be reached for the balancing to take place and once stopped the process must start over. I am fine with that but what is missed is the overall purpose of the beads, is that they do continuous balancing, which leads to long tire life.

Over the years I have seen 2000 to 4000 mile longer tire life on my bikes using RideOn. Obviously there are a lot of factors here and all tires are not equal but using the same tire make and model this is what I have seen.

As tires wear they will get out of balance, this is why it is recommended on car tires to have them rotated and balanced every 5000 miles to maintain maximum life.

FWIW I tried the ride on beads one time in my goldwing, after winning them as a door prize at a rally,and was not happy with the results. They would make my valve core leak, after checking tire pressure. I removed them at the next tire change .

The same thing happened to me with an RV. I found out that there are suppose to be little screens/filters that are in the valve stems to prevent the beads from interfering with the valve. Once they were installed I had no issues.

Aviation term referring to the throttle levers which traditionally (early aviation) had a ball on them similar to the ball on early automotive shift levers.  Balls to the wall means throttles pushed all the way forward toward the firewall for maximum thrust.

I suspect that like many of these old sayings, there are several meanings ... all credible but none verifiable.. ;)  Like "Let the cat out of the bag" or "not enough room to swing a cat" or the origin of why Friday the 13th is considered unlucky. ;)

There is a lot of information on the internet that is not necessarily correct. I know "running balls out" from steam engine and stationary engine governors.  "Balls to the wall" makes more sense to me in the multi-engine aviation context. YMMV as always.

Campfires stimulate creative thinking.  Where creative thinking leads is anyone's guess.

In an attempt to get this thread back on line, when the balls are against the wall, what would be the best oil to prevent friction and minimize wear?
