Spark Plugs V7III Special
« on: November 12, 2025, 05:23:18 PM »
My V7III Special has done almost 35,000 KM (21,875 miles) on the original plugs.
I think I should spoil it and replace with a new set.
If I google it tells me NGK CPR8EB-9, I think these are standard resistor type
Any other recommendations?
e.g. Iridium plugs or other brands
thanks
Roy

MG must own a bunch of stock in spark plug companies.   I have never changed spark plugs as routine maintenance. My only two high mileage vehicles have been diesels. A V6 Chrysler I owned recommended the spark plugs be changed at 100K, they were iridium though.

Does anyone know how to cross reference iridium plugs to the usual type?

The cross reference doesn't list the original NKG ZCPR8EB-9s as per the manual
I picked up a pair as listed at a local auto store and changed them out
3mm allen key, a 16mm deep socket, a smidgen of Never Seize and 20 minutes later.

Drop the unusual Z (Inductive Suppressor or Extra Projected?) prefix and there's an equivalent CR8EIX.
