Lee Parks question
« on: November 28, 2025, 08:41:26 PM »
I'd like to buy a gauntlet set of Lee Parks deerskin gloves. Anyone have experience with the "PCI" version shown here?

https://leeparksdesign.com/deersports-pci/

I've been reading this from the maker of "Outlast phase-change lining" used in these gloves:

https://www.outlast.com/en/discover-outlast/news-events/phase-change-material

where "micro encapsulated wax" melts and solidifies based on your hand/skin temperature, moderating the temperature. I like deerskin and wonder if this lining would feel weird, leave a wax residue on me or in some way be undesirable compared to the straight deerskin version here:

I like the idea of a cooler weather glove (the PCI), me being from the Pacific NW, but maybe the plain old deerskin is a safer bet. Opinions anyone?

I have a pair- not these exact ones- mine are shorter gauntlets.  They have the Outlast stuff (or say they do!).
Frankly... they are very comfortable gloves, soft and easy to work with.  I cannot tell that there is any real cold protection from the Outlast stuff.  But- neither is there any residue, nor is there any real difference (that I notice) in chilly vs. cold weather.
They are definitely not 'cold' weather gloves.  Good for short rides around freezing (with my heated grips), but I would not take them any colder than that.

Overall- I like them.  I'd buy them again, but they are expensive.
For comparison- I also wear and like Held gloves.  These are heavier than Held Steve gloves.

I have then, and use them.  Work well, but NOT a winter glove.  More like 40 to 55 early morning stuff in the high country.
Zero "wax" feel or residue.

Lee Parks has been around a long time with good reviews.
FWIW, the motor officer that does the safety articles for Rider magazine uses them and if you buy from him I think he offered a 20% discount. CRS at the moment but somebody here will post it I'm sure.
