V9 Bobber
« on: December 13, 2025, 10:34:03 PM »
I picked up a used Bobber in real nice condition and it came with a Dart fly screen that doesn't do much but keep the speedometer clean. I wonder how a Memphis Shades Bat Wing Fairing would look on this bike and how effective it would be.

Welcome to windscreen roulette.  What works for one many not for another.  Good luck.
Personally, and always with a full face, I never rode behind a bat wing that didn't buffet like crazy.  I'd never purchase one.

The BEST windshields I ever had (on an unfaired bike) were massive.

It was either the giant touring windshield that I ran on my Jackal in winter only because it was so fugly or the tinted, recurved, vented, taller and wider than stock Road King windshield I purchased from Clearview.

Anything else was a compromise.

So I got used to wearing a 3/4 helmet with a full face visor on my smallblocks and settling for a fly screen or Cafe style fairing. The only compromise is that I sometimes miss having no visor and will take shorter/slower rides like that from time to time.

It is amazing how screens work or don't work. I have a Dart Marlin fly screen that I bought for my Triumph T120. It caused buffeting, not severe but enough to be annoying. On a trip to Reno I took it off about half way home and threw it in a saddle bag. When I got my '26 V7 Special I thought I would put it on this bike for the winter, I figured it would look good. I only ride locally in the winter so no big deal. Well surprise, no buffeting and I have ridden on the highway. No rhyme nor reason why it is working on the Guzzi where it didn't like the Triumph.
