Police Bike Data Base

Hey Gang, Does anyone know if there is a data base of some kind to find out where your Guzzi Police bike came from, like which department and where, via serial number? I searched around here but didn't find anything. I thought it would be cool to know something like that. Thanks

You can get a LEO in your area to run a vehicle history report for that VIN# and the original buyer will be in that report.

So my local police department can only go back to the previous owner and cannot do a full history report. I got a hold of the CaDMV and chatted with a agent and they gave me a link to go to and download some paperwork to mail in with a fee for a complete history, here https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/file/request-for-record-information-inf-70-pdf/ I do have a relative that's ex-LEO in the Ohio area I'll call and see if they may have some info.

I have a 1974 Eldorado that a previous owner tells me was purchased from a Texas ex police vehicle auction. I have no further information on the history of my Eldo but I would love to find out in which Texas police department it served.

It appears the original civilian owner lived in Abilene. Any advice on which Texas



state government agency to contact would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Harry, nice bike! Go here https://www.txdmv.gov/ then in the lower right corner hit the chat icon and open a chat line with an agent, you want a real person, like I did. Tell them about your bike and what you're looking for. Like California DMV did with me by sending me a link to download paperwork. Hopefully Texas is different and they can tell you. Good Luck!
BTW- your pictures helped me on the turn signal configuration. Mine came with no signals, but I found a pair of rear signals, like yours with the grey backing. I see the fronts are two sided, this helps a lot. Thanks!

This is interesting. I sold a Jeep to a friend and put my name on the title as the lien holder. The new title never came back to me because he never registered it. He moved out of state and I had no contact information, he wouldn't return phone calls. He still owes me $2,500. A couple years ago he moved back to Cali, not too far away. I went to DMV to get a duplicate title, I was told it dropped out of the records. After sitting outside for years I don't even want it back even though it is a pretty cool Jeep, CJ3B with a Buick V6 and a lot of other extras. Turns out he has stiffed a lot of other guys so recouping the money he still owes me is probably not going to happen.

It turned out that he got a lot of other stuff from his dirt track racing buddies that he never returned or paid for. It will all come back to bite him. That Jeep was another vehicle I wish I had kept.

My 77 Convert came to me in a nice shade of almost right Arctic blue with a tractor solo saddle and buckhorn bars.   I also received two big old boxes with the Police Solo Saddle, the wheelbarrow police double decker handlebars, front spotlight rack and windscreen. Oh yes, a Police radio box and mounting rack.    there was a couple old red spot lights, Law Enforcement specific saddlebags, and a Motorola radio speaker.

The fellow said they came with the bike when he got it.    That is quite a bit of period correct Police Equipment , so I sourced a siren unit and tracked down the correct police pursuit lights.   I contacted the LAPD police museum for help in proper livery and decals as well as equipment. Between what they sent me and the Police Convert in the Guzzi museum, I built a replica/tribute. I cannot prove it was in service or with what department, but Im convinced it served somewhere.   I went with LA because statically they had the most converts and the consultant that helped design the Convert Police Model was from the LAPD.
