Florida ride
« on: December 25, 2025, 09:52:17 PM »
Couldn't resist the perfect weather for a ride today. Rode north out of Tampa to Spring Hill and then east to the small community of Aripeka. There's a couple of small bridges there over the water where I like to stop, take a few puffs on my pipe, and just enjoy the scenery. And then the unexpected happened, a manatee came swimming under the bridge. Made my day.

I met three Manatee's at Ft Lauderdale beach one day that were migrating down the coastline. Scared the be-geezers out of my sister as they came by just behind her in waist deep water.

On our first trip to Wakulla springs in Feb 2015 my wife went swimming in 50 degree weather. She was the only one in the water when a walrus like creature arose from the depths and swam along beside her.We thought this was a normal attraction at the springs but found out later you weren’t allowed to pet or play with them.

Florida has some nice riding, like East of Tampa, Wachula, Bowling Green, mostly in the country around Orange groves and farms and the Phosphate mines.
