It's nice to buy something that is already done instead of another project. I have a couple of little things to take care of like cracked turn signal stems and a foggy dash. Fun bike!

Congrats, The 1100 Griso is a great bike, one of my all time favorites.

10 years ago, I sold my FJR1300 and haven't looked back. I have a Convert, but the GRiSO converted ME....

Other than a Beetle Map, lowered foot pegs, mana bars, and an Agostini hydroformed pipe, it is stock, and still great fun to ride.

It is great fun. I'm enjoying everything about the Griso. I found the registration for the original owner under the seat. Kevin Shoemaker of southern California owned it from 2007 - August 2025. I've tracked hm down, maybe he'll be interested in a chat. Other than the cool looking Agostini pipe and open airbox, I assume it's stock with some sort of map. It runs great and I'm getting 35mpg.

I'm going to use Guzzidiag and put in a Beetle Map.

I've run my Griso in all three configurations over the last 10 plus years.

Like many, due to its paid Google presence, early on I got sucked into the GTM cult and started with the open air box. I'm sure that it helped with full throttle top end RPM, breathing and power, but it robbed the motor of low and mid-range punch and torque.

Believing that I still needed more air. I put the original air box cover on but removed the snorkel.

Then out of curiosity I popped the snorkel back in and it has remained ever since. That provides the best drivability mid-range torque and engine response. IMO

If I was bracket racing and running full throttle at redline all the time, perhaps the open box would work, but otherwise it robs the motor of most of its character and mid-range performance.

I also have a Beetle Map (brilliant and takes away low speed snappy-ness), and the Agostini Hydroformed pipe. Same situation with the DB reducer. With it in, the motor is torquey and responsive at mid-range and pulls strong to redline. With it removed, The mid-range torque drops out, but top end is good. It does sound great though... LOL

These motors benefit from some restriction on the intake and exhaust. A good clean OEM filter is best.

Roper will get you straight and likely get you back with the stock air box.

It's easy to tell if the DB reducer/killer is in or not. It's a small tube that slides in the exhaust can outlet and is fixed in place by an allen bolt.

Today I saw a guy (Facebook) who fit the stacked dual pipe from a 9RT BMW on his GRiSO. It looks great

Pete is Top Notch. I think it was the early 2000's when I bought a T-3 basket case. and I'd take pictures of relays I didn't recognize, and he'd tell me where they went/ what it was. Invaluable.

My DB killer is gone.  It does run really well as is, so I'm not in a rush.

I finally stopped hating myself, after a LONG LONG time, for passing on a Tenni Green Griso I always wanted.  Just as I'm in recovery, YOU go and get one that I'll now have to see dozens of times a year.  There is NO justice!
