I don't want to be indiscreet, lol, but how much do you weigh? I have a set of Hagon Nitro shocks on my daughter's V7ii (same bike). The nitros are good shocks, but they are sized for 190-200lbs maybe? They are ok, but on the stiff side for me at 180. She weighs about as much as a bag of leaves, so the bike is a hard-tail frame for her. Anyhow- I'd be interested in a trade for a decent, but weight-matched set of rear shocks for her.
I'd recommend the Hagon 420mm, but you've already tried them. IKONs are pretty good, and there are other Hagons that can be sprung for your weight. I bought my Hagons from British Cycles. They are located in Conn. The Bitubo shocks I just put on as I transition the Stornello back to full street/sport mode are excellent. It's all about how much you want to spend.....
Hagon recommended going with the longer travel Trail shock, 400mm, sprung for my weight, saying it would provide a softer ride on rough roads but might be a little soft for aggressive riding (which I no longer do). They'd be $360 delivered. They do offer a 420mm but with that length I'd be a little concerned about driveshaft angle and wear. Did you have any issues with the 420's on your bike?Another option is to install V7 850 shocks. They're the same length, much better than the V7 II and cheap with a few sets for sale on eBay for around $100. At the leaset this would be a stop gap measure while I figure out how much I want to spend.
I think I've addressed this several times over the years. The 30 mm increase from 390 to 420 is not a big deal, especially when seated. And/or riding. I disassembled the swingarm and inspected the u-joints at 9k miles and everything was perfect and I've never experienced a single issue.I really liked the Hagen shocks and they did a fantastic job. Always well damped, and controlled and handled all the heavy loads I put on it on and off-road. I only pulled them off because I don't plan to be off-road anymore on the MYS, And I had a set of bitubo external reservoir shocks. I'm going to be selling the hagons PM me if you're interested.
