I've narrowed it down to either the Anakee Adv 2 or Pirelli MT60. The Michelins are radials and the new 2 series front is supposed to be quieter - they were kinda noisy on my V85. The Pirellis have the closest looking tread pattern to the OEM Golden Tires but would require mixing a radial on front and bias on the rear. Price is nearly identical so that's not the issue. Ruled out the Bridgestone AX41S - newer tire with few reviews and those were mixed.

Again, I'm riding 90/10 with the 10% on groomed gravel and dirt roads.

Found a good deal on the Chaparral ebay store for the MT60s so going with them.

Took care of draining the gas and replacing the in-tank fuel filter with an all metal one. Despite only having 94 miles of use the plastic part of the OEM filter was quite swollen. Might have lasted a while but I wanted to change it 'while I was in there' cleaning out tank sediment. Despite the 10 years of storage the inside of tank is rust free, just some gunk floating around in the very bottom. Will fill the tank with premium + Seafoam & stabilizer.

Next up is brake fluid flush then engine, trans and gearbox oil changes. With that done I can start puttering around while I wait for the new tires.

I was cleaning out one on a Norge & filter change, there was a big (+1 quart ) chunk of foam inside from mfg. Had to cut it up.

That is what the filter looked like on every one I've pressure tested and still didn't fail at 120 psi.

Can't believe how dark/oxidized the brake fluid (in tube) and motor oil became. Goes to show what 10 years does despite only going 94 miles...

Mounting the Pirellis today. Red dot goes by the valve stem, right?

Mounted up the Pirelli MT60 in the rear and installed the Hagon shocks. The Pirelli and Golden Tire (top) tread patterns are very similar...

When changing the fork oil I found that one leg had regular oil in it and the other what appears (and smells) like ATF. Does the dealer add fork oil or the factory, and why would two different types of fluid be used? BTW, the right leg with ATF had 220cc and the left leg with oil 200cc.

I installed RaceTech .85Kg springs with 15mm of preload and used 15w oil in both legs, filled to 130mm per the RaceTech guidelines.

Factory puts in the fork oil, must be whatever they had laying around.

ATF works well if the weight matches your application.

On the tire front, I ordered the new Kenda Trakmaster DTR.. No 18 inch in the Stornello sizes, but I run a different SC type bike now.
I am guessing the V-85 guys will stumble on these soon enough. Should be a nice  upgrade to the Shinko E705 I am running now

Looks great! Hope you like the Hagons, I was very happy with them.

Will have to get the Stornellos together sometime this summer. I still have to dig into the forks on mine.

Beatle Map should be on your list. (IMO)
I found some pretty good lower cost options on tires.. Lets say you were running Shinko E705 stuff, and wanted to try something else.
These Kenda DTR sure are nice. Going on next on my G-650 Xcountry. I am going with another larger 705 in the rear to match up tire
wear to the front. Then the Kenda's are going on.. Just to add a bit to the tire info in this thread BTW my SC is great also.

Have been out for a couple rides and am pleasantly surprised with the engine's responsiveness. It feels 'snappier' than my previous V7's. I recall reading somewhere that the Stornello with the Arrow exhaust has a different fuel map so maybe that's why.

Also feeling like the bars are a little too low and narrow. Anyone installed a different handlebar and did you have to reroute any of the cables?

The Stornello is definitely more 'spunky' than other V7's. It is definitely a combination of the map and exhaust, but the 6 speed trans gives it an advantage over the other Heron heads, and IMO has more character than the V7iii Hemi head motor which is more bland and smooth. This makes the 2016 V7ii the 'sweet spot' of the 750 V7's.

I added bar risers and mirror extenders rather than wider bars.
