New Honda Transalp

Hey all-

Still have my 2024 Stelvio but aging/knee issues  caused me to part with the V7 Stone and after looking for a while, added a Honda Transalp, Havent had a new;ish Honda since the Nighthawk S in the 80s.

This is a really nice bike with great features. Plus it's bullet proof as a Honda. Looking forward to riding as New England weather slowly warms up

Its about 80lbs lighter and the leg room is a little better than the Stelvio. Fun bike to ride. The Stelvio is naturally heavier and has a shaft drive and is faster and a smoother ride but not by much. Honda really hit the mark on the Transalp.

Once I get it past the break-in, there's a place in WA that reflashes the ECU and it add over 10HP and torque as well, the majority say its a noticiable difference.

I have a 1400 Cali and a Honda CTX1300. I love my Guzzi but when I hit the starter on the Honda I know that bike will run forever!

Transalp is 2nd best seller in Italy after the ubiquitous GS, so very appreciated over here

I believe its the same situation in other European countries. Looks like everyone understands now that these upright, tall-ish bikes are the best to tour on, go shopping or ride to work....   

In our top 10 for 2025, 7 are "adventure" bikes.

Very true, I ride with some older guys and they had the older Transalp and its now a collectible. My Honda dealer is also a Moto Guzzi dealer and we joked after I took the Transalp for a test ride that it was almost perfect as is but with that in mind, many people view it as "just a Honda" and thus no character over European bikes..

I think most of us over 50 would take bulletproof to character....

Those two excellent bikes seem almost identical.  Isn’t the Honda basically a Japanese Stelvio with the same paint scheme or vice versa, the Stelvio is an Italian TransAlp?

Nice choice, Dave! That's a motorcycle that can do about anything. I was considering one but decided it was just too close to my V85TT but when an almost new CB500X came up for sale locally I picked it up.

With the tall 6th gear and nice riding position it'll make a nice travel bike, any plans to add panniers or soft bags?

mmm. not really, Stelvio would go head to head with the 1100 Africa Twin, which is a sort of larger Transalp....

at least in italy, they are about same price too

Congrats, it's a beautiful bike. I looked at one when they first returned to the states and liked almost everything about it other than the Matte Black Metallic they had for the first year, glad they finally brought the better Ross White color scheme. They're now offering it with an eclutch which makes it even more appealing to me.

When I was at the Honda tent at Daytona Speedway I copied the price and options sheets.

No plan for soft luggage or panniers, I use a small harbor freight top box to carry things and its functional and looks good. My Stelvio has a bigger top box to carry more on longer trips.

The only think about the Transalp which most complain about are no heated grips, CC, handguards, skid plate or luggage stock. I know this probably keeps the price point at 9999. Now that we all know about Aliexpress, most can be had within budget. As we all know, Honda reliability and multiple dealers in states is a plus though I think all MC mfgs are struggling now.

The 2026 has more of the above I think plus the new E.

After 46 years traveling on Guzzis and owning Hondas and Kawasakis earlier,I would not choose anything but a Guzzi for a trip.Worrying about reliability takes distant second to enjoyability .I don’t worry about my cars reliability but I would rather ride my Guzzi anywhere.
