V100 Mandello upgrades

Hello Folks,
There are a couple of very good deals on the Mandello here in the UK at the moment, specifically the 2026 models in satin grey and satin ocean blue ( I assume they are 2026 models). Are there many upgrades to this model compared to the first generation?, for example, clunk when shifting into first, water leaks and water pump problems, in other words, are the newer models  a better buy from a reliability and running point of view?. Perhaps the problems on the first iterations were overblown?.
The only fly in the ointment is I would have to trade in my V85tt, and I just love it, I would hate to find after a few thousand miles I still preferred the V85tt

The clunk into first is still present.  Some find this very annoying, but I hardly notice.  Many other bikes I have owned in the past had this clunk, and I never thought twice about it, still don't.

As per usual, component failures get highlighted on the internet while untroubled service by the vast majority goes unnoticed.   I would not be concerned.

I own both the V100S and a V85TT.   Both are wonderful bikes, and both have similar Guzzi charm.  The V100S has a better ride as it should with the Ohlins, but the V85TT is pretty darn good with its "built to a price" suspension.  All comparisons fall away when you twist the throttle of the V100.  It has more go everywhere.

I also have both a V85 and V100. The V100 has the clunk but I don’t have enough miles on it to see any other faults. I can live with the clunk, its finding neutral thats the PITA. Other than that its a great bike. One downside is I can’t move around in the seat like I can on the V85. I would not use the V100 on long trips for that reason. Keep the V85 if you plan to tour on it.

I no longer have my Mandello but in the 13k I had it no issues. I aged out of it. The only gripe was the gearbox, it took some real mileage to break in and get reasonable smooth. Even though the rider is kind of locked in I found I was able to ride for hours with little discomfort.

Thank you all, good information.
I'll probably wait until the autumn before deciding whether to go for a V100, and if I do I'll try for an E5+ I think. I'm lucky enough to have an LM3 and a Norge, so really I would be buying with my heart not my head, but there's nothing new in that!.

I had a '24 V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale.  I think I had it for about 16 months or so, didn't even have enough miles on it for the first service, and traded it in on a '25 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 (same dealer).  Unless you're hard up for another Guzzi, take a look at the ST1200.  It's a better all-around bike, no annoying first gear clunk, feels like it has more torque and horsepower, etc.

Really? I had a T120 and I think it and my V7850 were very comparable in power. I know the ST is more but the Navale I had would blow them both away. 115 HP compared to 80.

Better bike?  Don't know about that.  Better for you?  Better how?
I had 13 Triumphs-some old, some new.  Fine motorbikes.  Even worked for them for a while.

"Better" is a tough term to define.

Everything’s a preference really.

They design and build decent bikes in Thailand under the Triumph banner. Good for them.

I’ll stick to good old American design and build quality with my Victory motorcycle. Yes, I know it’s a ‘dead’ brand. It’s still 1000 times easier to get parts for my Victory than my Guzzi.

As a second, my Italian designed and built Moto Guzzi Eldorado 1400. Could very well be my last Moto Guzzi.

I Google'd some info, comparing my '24 V100 Mandello to my '25 Speed Twin 1200.  This is hp / torque / wet weight of the two:

V100 Mandello:      115 hp at 8700 rpms / 77 ft-lbs torque at 6750 rpms / wet weight 513 lbs (4.46 lbs per hp)
Speed Twin 1200:  103 hp at 7750 rpms / 83 ft-lbs torque at 4250 rpms / wet weight 476 lbs (4.62 lbs per hp)

The big difference is the ST has more torque at 2500 rpms lower, which gives the impression that it's "quicker" (not necessarily "faster").  Plus the ST is almost 40 lbs lighter, which is noticeable when trying to move them around in the limited space of a storage unit.  I had a '23 V7 Stone 850, and the ST would walk that bike all day every day. 

It's all good though, just set the bar low on a V100 Mandello and you won't be disappointed.  For what that bike costs, it could be better.  Don't give it a pass just because it's a Guzzi...I didn't.

Stopped caring about spec sheets years ago.
And I'd expect a 1200 liquid cooled to walk an 850 air cooled.
Triumph still designs in the UK.  The engineering center is something to behold.

I didn't realize the ST had that much HP. The T120 only has 79 and they are the same base motor. How does the the ST have that much more HP?
