Question about my seat Cal2

So my new to me cal2 has the short skunk on it and when I see these bikes you see the seat lines don’t match up with the tank on a lot of them but some they do. Normal for the seat to be high in the front? How much?  Just got the bike so I haven’t played with it at all. I’m excited to get this one cleaned up and on the road!

Seat has solid legs that sit on frame, tank is supposed to have rubbers on frame to support it, hooks under rubbers in front.  I have a 86 and paint never matched anything on seat.
Look in parts book & make sure the correct rubbers are for tank.

Rubbers under tank on frame have a thick side & thin side to them, Spin them around for thick side up and rubber fits the form on bottom of tank. Might raise tank to meet seat. Mine has a police solo seat mounted.

I was looking at it last night. The seat does have those metal brackets on the front that sit on the frame. It sits very high on top of the frame. There’s actually an air gap. If you look from the side under the seat, you can see the top rails of the chassis. I don’t know if the seat is it correct for bike or not.

That’s the way they are, seats are very tall and sit above the frame rails. So much so at the right angle you can see through the seat to the frame. Cal II is a bit of an odd bike.

I had an  84 Call II automatic, with the long seat, and it bugged me to the point that I cut about 1/2" off from the front of the seat pan where it met the front of the tank. It looked much better after it was finished. I had it re upholstered, since the original cover was in rough shape.

This cover has some tears in it and I have a really good local seat guy. Might take it too him, add some foam under rider seat area and do new skunk cover in non textured vinyl. I wish the foam was a lil firmer for my weight but… it is what it is

The big money is in the cover, so while he has it off have him put some denser foam in it. While you at it he can add leather skirt to the seat, that would cover the gap and have an old school leather seat look.
