OG V7 Sport
« on: May 31, 2026, 02:42:39 PM »
When out for a cool Sunday ride and flogged the ‘74 Sport through the Jersey Pines  “Tail of the Possum” - 11 miles, one curve.  First ride on it this season.  Man, this thing is still so fun to ride.  I’ve owned it for a little over 14 years, and have never had to tune it since Charlie (Antietam) had his hands on it.  Spins up like a raped spotted Himalayan  snow ape!  Hit 20K original miles as I pulled into my driveway.

Sweet bike. I owned one for a short time, traded it plus 2 850T's in on a new 93 SP3. Ride Safe

That’s a great looking bike.   Always love seeing a V7 Sport that is ridden like it should be.  I’m admittedly biased, but it’s a really special machine.

South Jersey Pine Barrens.  No photographer at the one curve either.

A bit of history of that V7 Sport. My brother bought it and an R75/5 for me from a friend of his in Oceanside, CA, $2000 for the pair. Both were non-runners in shabby condition. This is how it looked after a lot of cleaning.

I kept it for several years, until a friend convinced me to sell it to him. He paid me to completely restore it for him, with a few non-original touches. Mostly the red frame and lots of parts polished that weren't originally. This is how looked when I was done.

Not long after that, my friend decided to sell it and took it to a show (Modern Classics at Martin Motosports?) in PA where Cam saw it.

Correct.  I did see it in pieces at your shop and fell in love.  Struck a verbal deal with him on the phone, and met him at that bike show and did the deal in the parking lot.  March of 2012.

Again, another plug for Charlie.  I’ve had to do nothing mechanical on that bike in the 14 years that I’ve had it.  Change oils, cables.  Still on the same Pirellis.  Couple tweaks since I bought it.  Sold the 750S seat. Ditched the black pipes for replica LaFranc shark gills. New Stadium bar end mirrors and clear small Renn Shield fly screen.  I’m not a big guy.  5’8” is average, the rest of you are mutants. I’m cramped and wanna get off that bike in 2-3 hours.
