Let’s show our locations
« on: June 14, 2026, 07:55:17 AM »
Good Sunday morning fellow MG forum members.
I was just catching up on the activities this morning and read a thread from a forum member that I became curious where he was located. From his introduction I saw the location but being a home grown southern state farm boy, that’s only been a few states from home in my lifetime, had to look it up. The location was in a beautiful part of southern Italy, and such a beautiful part of the world.
This gave me a thought that i decided to share with all the forum members.
Other than myself, with limited experience of even my own country, it would be great if our brothers/sisters from other countries would acknowledge their locations and maybe share a brief insight of their home area.
I know this would be very helpful and entertaining for me and I know others would enjoy this also.
Just a thought and request from the normally quiet one here🤔

NCDan/Danny

I'll play- here's our view this evening looking north towards Siena (about an hour away). Mt. Amiata is out of the frame to the right. We're just under 700 m altitude.

I'd like everyone to list where they live. Don't need the address, just the city/state or at least the state.

Under your profile you can enter a location and then it is displayed under your Avatar.

Yes and that would be helpful at times and help understand ones reactions and views.
This is a global forum and it’s good when people from all over the world can come together over a single subject, motorcycles, and immediately have something very binding in common.

I don't think it matters whether you are in the US or elsewhere it would help in numerous cases a location would help make a lot of posts more relevant to a lot of us.

I'm pretty sure there is some sort of weird phobia at work with a good many of our members when it comes to posting a home location.   As stated, it's a great help to understand where somebody lives, it's also fun to know.   But I sense a fear of actual posting in black and white in some, it's certainly illogical, most all of us have spent our entire lives with are actual address posted for all to see, ie The Phone Book, but somehow some think that giving out their geographic region may lead to... what I don't know??

Anyway, I gently urge all who haven't, put your region under your avatar.  Don't just post your town or county, there are far to many for a global community to have a clue.

There can be legit reasons for divulging as little info as possible (I'm all for it) though geographic region, such as NE Portugal is close enough IMO.

Excellent advice!

This thread reminds me of my Father-in-law asking my wife to order him something over the internet.

He did not want to order it himself for fear of credit card theft.

After my wife ordered it for him she laughed and said "So, obviously, he is worried about his credit card being at risk, but not worried about my credit card being at risk!"

Of course if any of you guys are wanted by the FBI maybe it’s best if you don’t disclose your location 🤔
This has been discussed here before. Yes it is interesting, if not helpful at times, to know what area of the country and world members are from.
However if anyone for what ever reason you don't want to participate in disclosing your area then don’t, simple as that. Not asking for your complete address, just general area, just your state would be good if you are comfortable with that.

Sometimes you can guess where someone is located by the person's screen name.

Like Chuck in Indiana or Ncdan.

Which should really be spelled NCDan......

If you want to find how much of your info is already out there just type your name and town or postal address in the google search bar. I have found phone numbers, email addresses, and street address of people I have lost contact with that way and many times much more info like names of family members and how much their property is worth.
Many people have become extremely wealthy by collecting that information. Just sayin’.
