Ruth just lost a 64 year old second cousin and one she was very close to after he went into a totally unexpected cardiac arrest at the rehab hospital last Sunday. About three weeks ago he was involved in an motorcycle accident. Was just casually riding in a familer pasture on a trial bike when he hit a significant hole. Caused him to wheelly up hard and then come down forward hard causing him to go over forward causing a compound fracture of a femur bone. We went to see him two weeks ago and after some bacteria issues that were successfully treated he seemed to be doing well at the rehab hospital and was slated to be released yesterday.
I never had a chance to really know him but learned that he was a competitive motocross, hair scramble and trial rider. Recently won a Nebraska regional trial meet at 64.
The funeral today had somewhere around 300 people. The church sanctuary, fellowship hall and foyer were full. Probably about 25 bikes there with about half being trial bikes. Sounds like he was a great guy.
