Suggestions om brake lever.
« on: August 02, 2026, 09:56:39 PM »
I have somewhat small hands and weak hands due to injuries over the years and mild arthritis and getting worse. Problem is the front brake lever on my T-3. I have a dog leg lever from MG but I still cannot use the outer half of the lever due to lack of reach and do not have the strength to really clamp down on the inner half of the lever. With the current dog leg lever if I pull it back as far as I can I still have a bit over 3/4 inch of space before the lever contacts the bar. Any options? Can the lever be successfully bent closer to the bar in some way?

If your linked brakes work you shouldn’t need a lot of grip strength on the front,I rarely use my front brake except to scrub of a little too much speed in a turn.

Glider,
On my '09 V7 I changed the factory levers for adjustable ones by Domino.  They were a drop-in fit.  I recall Domino made the orig. levers, so changing the solid ones for adjustable  was easy.

The front levers have always been notorious. Cycle or the other American magazine, said that one needed the hands of Wilt Chamberlain (look him up) and the strength of Godzilla to operate them. But this may be consistent with Guzzi's own plan for the front lever.

Guzzi meant the front lever to be an emergency brake, to supplement the integral brakes when needed. The integral brake pedal can be stomped on in an emergency without skidding the front wheel, at least on pavement. I've tried this and found it works great.

Since the integral system works well, it can be extra dangerous to grab the front lever in an emergency. Better to cover the rear brake pedal and leave the front lever for later on in your braking emergency. Hence there is no particular problem to get your fingers up around the lever as your braking event unfolds, and then to apply it judiciously.

To steal a line, Guzzi wants you to think different.
