V7 850 Up map received today/no instructions

No instructions nor any information how to get instructions.  just two boxes, one with puck-looking thing and the other with a cable.  I realize that many products nowadays have the instructions on line so I'll search for them but it seems odd there was no reference to instructions at all, no QR code, nothing...

Not even any instructions on the UPMap site!  :(

One thing to note... You need a GOOD internet connection for the install.  For most folks that probably is not a problem but for me it is and I could not do the install.  We do not have a garage and the motorcycle is in a parking garage about a mile away.  I had two bars of signal on the iPhone but after 10 minutes+, it still couldn't connect to perform registration.  Working on a solution...

Well...the solution I have found is to bring the bike into the house!  Yep, a townhouse in city center is NOT an ideal location for vehicle work.

 I thought about doing it in front of the house - our wifi signal is good there - but there is no parking allowed on the street in front of our house and the front door opens directly onto the pavement. If I put the bike on the pavement in front of the door it would obstruct pedestrians and generate a fine.  But the front door is wide enough to allow the bike to enter.  So I plan to install the map with the bike in the house, standing in the entrance hallway.   Probably do it tomorrow but might wait 'till later in the week.

Ain't motorcycling fun? !!!!

TOTAL FAIL!!  Very frustrating...

Had bike in front of house, strong wifi signal.  Connected upMap to bike, got green light on upMap.  App was loaded/registered but it could not find any device and I disconnected/reconnected the upMap multiple times.  Finally, after 30 minutes or so of trying different things on the app I gave up and took the bike back to the garage.  I got back home and again reviewed the docs and video but still haven't found what I was doing incorrectly.  I sent a message to the upMap folks...

I flashed my V7 850 with UpMap in a metal pole barn the first time, no WiFi, just cell service on my phone and the Bluetooth connection FWIW

Figured out what I did wrong (I think).  If I'm correct it was pretty simple though, in my defense, not specifically mentioned in any of the instructions/videos.  I'll try it again tomorrow...

I'm no computer guy but most of these devices request for you to be sure any/all firewalls are off, and to NOT use a VPN. Maybe try turning off firewalls and VPN?

We (me and upMAP) are just not getting along.     I sorted out the connection issue but then loaded the wrong map into my cart.  I haven't found a way to delete that item in the cart and replace it with the correct map.  The map is not "purchased," it's in the cart awaiting purchase so it seems it should be easy to remove/replace it but I can't see a way to do it.  I can look at the cart but see no option to remove an item.  I sent a message to GCourse so we'll see what they say...

Have you tried clearing cookies and cache, in your chosen browser? Just a thought.

They are most likely on holiday. They take August as their holiday. Found that out when I ordered an UpMap from them in early August 2 years ago. You'll hear from them next week or the week after (or try contacting them again then)

FINALLY got the upMap installed today on my '21 V7 Special after multiple failed attempts over the past weeks.  Even today it failed the first three attempts.  I was about to totally give it up as complete FAIL but somehow, and I'm not sure how/why, a message popped up and the app suddenly informed me that an update was necessary.  I did the update and the next attempt to load the new map was a success!!

So I went out for a ride.  It works very well and I'm quite impressed.  I had installed a Rapid Bike Refueling EASY device a couple of months ago and I was quite happy with the improved low speed running but I thought the upMap might be better overall so decided to spend MORE money and buy it.  I'm now glad I did.  It equals the Rapid Bike device in the low speed operation but improves other aspects that the Rapid Bike device was not designed to address - there is now definitely more energetic response from 2000 -3000 RPM which seemed to lag a bit previously.  And the general overall response is better - or at least it feels that way.  It would take a dyno to really determine if there's a difference.  But IMO it's worth the money.  I was not happy with the OEM low speed running and the bit of a flat spot in the 3000RPM range; the UpMap has totally cured that.  I ordered the map for the exhaust mods WITH dB Killer.  My 21 has (from previous owner) Mistral slip-ons, the velocity stack, the high flow KN air filter (no, it doesn't REALLY filter air very well), and the Evap bypass.  I didn't know it had the evap bypass until a few days ago when, in checking some connections, I discovered a metal slug in the hose between the valve and the intake manifold!!
