New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
Tube tires and no ECC are deal breakers for me.
Must have Likes: ABS; Dual Analog gauges on RETRO BIKES. (Digital dash good on any other types)Dislikes: Keyless ignitionThat's pretty much it. I don't NEED anything else/other options/packages though don't care if it's there/not there. Traction control seems to always be present nowadays as is "ride modes" both are of no added value to me as they are both easily controlled as necessary by my hand on the throttle! Cruise control might be useful if I spent lengthy time cruising on the highway but I don't so it isn't.
All of my bikes, sans mentioned Guzzi, are free from ABS. There are few things I hate more, particularly in cars, than ABS. They make a little more sense on bikes, but I still prefer to be the one in control of my brakes. In my experience, ABS will far more often prolong stopping distances than prevent mishaps.
Cruise control is something I use a lot in my car, and would like to have on my bike as well - despite the added complexity. Preferably without F.I.
I have cruise control on my 67 V700, it's a tension screw on the twist grip. The rest is crap You can over ride it but you can't be a girlyman.
You've never had a panic stop in the rain, I can tell.
I was like you.."I can out-stop ABS on any motorcycle." Well, that might be true on dry pavement under ideal conditions. Then I took the BMW riders school in Spartanburg, SC. They do ABS on and ABS off drills in the rain. (Not much choice since it was pouring during our class!) The stopping distance between the two was astounding, with ABS the clear winner. There are plenty of YouTube videos out there showing highly skilled motorcycle racers that can routenly threshold brake to the edge of a front tire skid being unable to out-brake ABS in the wet. Having said that, there are some poorly designed ABS systems. My first Harley with ABS was abysmal. The ABS would cycle on the rear brake far too early, often on simple stutter bump pavement as you approached a stop. Their newer systems seem to be much better.
Dislike any Guzzi w/modes, gadgets, radio's, gps, cellphones, etc, anything that will distract you from focusing on riding. IT WILL KILL YOU, just a matter of time. This is a fact.
Interesting thread. Generally, I like things as simple and well-engineered as possible.Factory service manuals need to be available! Yes, BMW, I'm talking to you!My opinions - yours may be different. -Stretch
Self driving motorcycles like some Tesla cars have? Yup, it’s coming to a motorcycle near you. Faster than you may want it to as well. Face it, computers are more competent ’drivers’ than many humans anyway.
The problem here is constant elevation changes and uneven wind, both requiring constant throttle correction to keep the speed even. But it can be used here for brief rest periods for the throttle hand. I had it on several bikes over the years, even Japanese had them for a while.

Don't have an issue w/throttle hand or clutch hand. Real strong. You see i swung a 30oz hammer for over 30yrs building trusses, something I went back to when I got broke cause I was a Guzzi technician. Before we were called technicians, we were mechanics. I got carpel tunnel so had to put the hammer down for good & the issue went away, no surgery.
