If you happen to be an idler, you may want to change religion and start riding/driving just after startup when you have watched the video :boozing:

They proved numerous times decades back that letting a cold engine idle causes more wear than driving it.
Yet there are people that still believe it needs to idle.
Odd how that works.
Good judgement comes from experience.
And experience. That comes from poor judgement.

Scientific videos..... always 10-20 longer than needed to convey the contained information.

A better test would be:
Case 1 - Drive 30 minute multiple times.
Case 2 - idle 10 minutes and drive 30 minutes multiple times to see if the fuel in the oil burned off quickly.

"Old time" truck drivers "knew" you should let those big diesel engines idle a couple minutes before driving and before shutting off.  Of course, most of those engine would last over 500,000 miles, so if engine life was shortened by 10%, no big deal.

One of my friends had a early 1970's International 10 wheel dump truck.  Don't remember if it was diesel or gas?  He would start it and watch the oil pressure gage.  He said it was terrifying how long it took for the oil pressure gage needle to move.

40% more fuel in the oil?  Is that going from 100 ppm to 140 ppm, or 10,000 ppm to 14,000 ppm?

Engine oil "failure" is always an entertaining and never ending subject!!!

Over the winter I like to leave my battery on a charger 24/7 and twice a week start the bike and let it idle for 20 minutes or so to warm up and keep the oil circulated through the engine. I also buy oil based on price knowing that the more I spend the better oil I get. I also prefer fancy oil containers with lots of buzzwords like "motorcycle" or "twin cylinder". I change my oil every  1000 miles because the factory recommended 6000 mile interval is too long. I ride my bike hard (translates to normal road riding but you gotta try to impress the internet making them think you are Ricky Racer) and alway send a sample out to Blackstone to be tested and add $30 to my oil change only to find my samples always come back showing the oil is not 1/10th o fthe way through its service life. I thought about stretching out the oil change interval to 1200 miles but because as hard as I run the bike I gotta be wearing that oil out faster than anybody on earth.

Not all engines or setups are created equal. Nothing is absolute when it comes to this.

Considering that almost all wear in an engine being operated normally happens during warm-up, I personally would never do what you do, as you will dilute the oil with fuel and the oil will rarely get up to a temperature high enough for long enough to let water evaporate. You are unlikely to do great harm to your engine with your method, but I cannot see you are doing anything good to it based on what I have learned over the past 50 years. Still, it is your engine(s) and you should do what works for you.

Now, now, all scientists & statisticians know that a single data point is all that is needed to establish a trendline in any direction.  It is elementary!!!

Unfortunately, the video where 100 vehicles are tested and the least squares trendline is drawn will be at least 2,000 times longer in length than the previous video.

If you really cared about your bike, you would change the oil every 20 days or 500 miles, whichever comes first!!!

And be sure to use a torque wrench on the oil filter and the drain plug. You know, cause you care and all that.

and the oil should be at body temperature (just like breast milk) before you pour it in the engine.

But during the winter I use ethanol free fuel I get at the boat dock and put Techron in it. Over the summer I use premium gas mixed 50/50 with 100LL aviation fuel because I run my bikes hard and I use a K&N air filter with drilled the air box full of 1" holes. Just guessing but that probably gained me 10 to 12 additional HP.

500 miles in one summer? I mean I ride a lot. I rode to the gas station twice this summer for scratchers and local hit up the local bike night and I have 27 miles on since january 1st. I probably should look at putting on fresh rubber as hard as I've been pushing the bike in the twisties I'm surprised my current tires have not failed. I also think there is something wrong with how my rear tire is wearing if you look at it  there are 3" wide stripes left and right of center where the tire looks new but center tread is flat and scuffed up. Maybe I should get softer compound tires??

Looking it Vevor motorcycle engine oil bottle warmers on AliExpress should I get the digital unit with 3000 terabyte memory card and BlueTooth or the is the one with the analog dial priced $0.87 less good enough. What oil warmer is everyone else using?
