V7 850 Brembo RCS master cylinder
« on: August 29, 2026, 12:26:59 AM »
I'm wanting to increase braking power at the front on my '21 V7 Special.  I have tried various brand pads with no significant effect.  Has anyone fitted a Brembo RCS brake master cylinder to a V7 850?  If so, what parts are necessary in addition to the master cylinder itself?  Any issues with the installation?  Thanks!!  :)

Not a direct answer to your question, as I haven't, but I'll mention that Hamlin Cycles and GTM both have an offering of a higher spec Brembo master cylinder and 4-pad caliper.

Thanks!  The Brembo system GTM offers is the same one I am considering.  I have all the necessary components in my "basket" (master cylinder, reservoir, line extender, mirror adapter) but still trying to do research to see if it will make a noticeable improvement before spending the money!  ;)

FWIW, my V7 is in the UK so the (same) parts are from a UK supplier rather than GTM, etc.  The same Brembo RCS master cylinder that is $658 in the US (at GTM) is less than 400 USD in the UK!  Tariffs, I guess...

Hamlin's V7-850 brake mod is nothing short of amazing.  One had better be very skilled at performance riding as it's quite powerful.

Will the stock ABS still work with that S/U? It will be needed!

A long time ago I used an Accosato on my GSXR. As long as you get the correct master cylinder size it should work just as good as a brembo.

What is the actual change?

Smaller diameter master cylinder?

Different calipers?

More aggressive pads?

2 rotors?

I'm going to try yet another set of pads - EBC HH - to see if I can gain a bit more "bite" before I spend the money on changing the master cylinder.  They are allegedly the highest friction pads available...

I'm 78 have arthritis in both hands and have had two carpal tunnel surgeries. I use EBC-HH in all my v7's and can stop at a max rate with two fingers. Flush the old fluid, scrub the rotor and break them in. You should be happy then.

:thumb:  I'm a happy guy!!! the EBC HH pads made a huge improvement.  I cleaned the disc and then bedded in the new pads and for the first time I can actually apply enough brake to trigger the ABS on a dry road plus the initial grab is much better!  As Vagrant said, highly recommended!!!  Absolutely no need for a "better" (more expensive) mastercylinder!!!

They help the rear to just not as much.
