ADD--Another Dead Dash
« on: August 31, 2026, 03:12:13 PM »
Getting the classic dead LCD dash on my 2007 Norge when I turn the key on. I know Carmo in the Netherlands seems to be the standard fix for this but does anyone know/have experience with a good dash repair company in the USA? Guzzi wants like $1000 for a new dash and don't really want to go with another used dash with the wrong mileage on it. Only have one key to the bike anyway and can't do the 2 key dash recalibration for another used dash. What sayeth the faithful?

Just curious since I have an ‘08 1200 Sport since 2013 with the same dash and no problems. Is there anything you can point to that may have contributed to it like letting rain/water get to it or something else? Trying to avoid what you’re dealing with.

The only thing I can really chalk this up to is the bike being almost 20 years old. I bought the bike second hand this past April so don't fully know what the previous history was. Looks to be in good shape--I can pretty safely say it wasn't left outside its whole life.

I had this company repair the electronic control panel on mom's stove, it looks like they repair a wide variety of electronic components. Might be worth contacting them and asking. https://www.upfix.com/

I had a local micro soldering guy say that the components on the dash are ordinary and easily obtained and substituted. That was after he examined the naked board. I can dig up photos if you want.

EDIT: if there is water-induced damage in the printed circuit board itself, then all bets are off. The electrical traces on the surface of the PCB are particularly close together and invite short-circuiting and consequent further damage, I understand. But the apparent fact that Carmo has been able to fix a number of dashes makes it worth pursuing with the company Charlie suggested.

Hmm UpFix wants about 70% the cost of a new dash to fix my old broken dash (you do the math). Makes more sense to me to just buy a new one. Think I'll try Carmo could possibly be less expensive.

I've got a dash from a Norge in my stash. It was in my 1200 Sport when I acquired it. I wanted the White gauges so bought a NOS white gauge cluster from Harpers. PM me if interested.

Just so I understand the failure in case my Norge does the same...  Is it just the LCD that stops working?  The rest of the panel works normally?

Now I'm going to be neurotic about my '07 Norge's dash.

Looking at the style and knowing the on-road capability, I can't believe that bike is almost 20 yrs old.

Waiting for Huzo to chime in...

It can go either way. There are main PCB faults, usually due to condensation, that don't involve the LCD, and other cases that are failures of the LCD.
