This was in LA this past weekend.  6th St. Bridge.

I was expecting to see a whole bunch of "cheap" Coleman mini bikes. Looking closely at the images from this, some of these are vintage or repop bikes that could go for over $1k as a roller without an engine. Not what I was expecting.

Thats what they do here. Bikes, ATVs into the crusher. Most are not even street legal, no lights or plates.

I'd like to have a storage yard and the tow truck that took them away.  Unclaimed property can have mechanic liens filed on them then you're allowed to auction/sell to recover costs.

Street takeovers, No.

Gas saving 50cc? Yes (and we might need it sooner than later)

Tiered admission (like Europe) into the streets working to educate the young and ridiculous into non life threatening ways of motorcycling? YES

Crushing bikes is admitting the problem is out of control to me

Have you ridden one? I'll admit they are most fun for children, but even as an adult... cruising around on a simple machine powered by a snow blower engine can be quite fun.
Here's my Bonanza mini chopper that I inherited as a project from my uncle and put a vintage Tecumseh engine in. Great fun for in the yard and around the block.

Bikes being crushed here are not registered and most could not even be legally registered meant strictly for off road use. Its pretty much stopped the mass gatherings on the streets. Now we have E bikes blasting down the sidewalks and running red lights.

Never owned a mini-bike....At age 12, I rode a TACO-22 and wanted one badly...but my father said:

"If you are going to ride a motorcycle, best to learn on a full size one with a clutch / gear-box..."

So, at age 14, my first motorcycle was a 1965 Yamaha YG1-K 80cc Rotary Jet.

I rode in the corn fields and dirt roads of upstate NY for 3 years, and at age 17, I bought my first "street legal" bike, a brand new 1971 Yamaha RT1-B 360 Enduro...and yes, my Dad had to co-sign the loan for it!   I washed dishes on weekends at a local restaurant for 2 years to pay that off!!

True, but not the point. You're playing the part of the outraged town folk not the rebels. I don't know if you've changed teams over your life. It's up to you. Somehow I haven't, and I wonder what the back stories are that that brought these guys to their activity.

No team change, just reporting what is happening. Next time a dozen ATVs rollover your car, why don’t you stop them and ask them??

Chances are they won't be crushed.  The owners have time to pay for the towing and storage fees.  They would have to go to court first and pay for the tickets that are in place.  More than likely the owners have no proof of ownership.  Release of their property which are not motor vehicles would not happen since the cost would be higher than getting another unlicensed mini-bike and doing the same thing again.

The owner of the tow yard would seek reimbursement costs for the abandoned "mini-bike" by an auction or selling them directly to the public.

disrupt a freeway bridge and impede traffic and cause chaos.  And half you guys are talking about the merit of the having a small bike and what
fun they can be.  Not the point, not by a long shot.  If they are of age, charge them.  If underage,  where are the parents minding their children.
I am a go with the flow kinda guy, but these group gathering on bikes (regardless of size) or ATV's for the intent to shut down a roadway is
beyond ridiculous.  The police have more important things to do than deal with this bullshit.

One of the main drivers I see as contributing towards current anti social behaviour, is the rusted on sense of entitlement and lack of fear of consequence.
It can be seen on You Tube with the Karen phenomena and bottom feeding lawyers who seek to undermine the best efforts of our LEO’s
These first amendment auditors make me want to defecate.
I think that street justice has a very real role to play in the reversal of the degrading societal norms.
Make the expectation clear and the repercussion crystal clear.
