Just off the phone with Faith , geez what a wonderful person she is

A few things from the discussion .

 1. Cedar Vale is in lockdown , the pool is closed , Hewins Park is closed to vehicular traffic , except for the maintenance guys .

 2. Despite the issues at hand , the city council voted to make some improvements to Hewins Park . They are adding some graveled spots for RV's , the type seen in state parks .

 3. Once we get the all clear , our little oasis in Kansas will welcome us as always , we might have one big event in the Fall or next Spring , combining the two groups that travel to Cedar Vale every year .

We are still raising fundage for the park improvements .

 For direct contributions

I don't know if this is even a valid suggestion, but I will release a balloon and see who shoots at it.

It would still involve some heightened, but minimalized risk somewhere for someone.
It allows the WG 2020 Cedarvale to remain TBD with all its planning and raffle prizes untouched.

How about a small-scale alternate, unstructured interim meet?

Perhaps a mini meet could occur in the middle of nowhere, far, far away from any population in a zone that is out of lockdown?

It would be a rough camping over-nighter with no hook-ups, motels or cafes. A non-sanctioned get-together without a schedule of activities beyond a rendezvous time and place.

It still may not happen quickly, but could perhaps happen sooner than the "WG National".

Decision making on a smaller scale may be more manageable.

Anybody got a farm in Western Kansas?  Know of a dirt road pull-out somewhere in a State Forest or Grassland?
Might be too boring to bother when only 3 people show up.

Just thinking out loud...not trying to make a political statement.

Okla St Parks are open on a limited basis.  You might check.  I think Spavinaw still is.

Since I have a toy hauler, I don't see the issue with hookups.

The real issue is eating.  The shared meals and pot luck dinner in the picnic areas would be a definite issue.  Restaurants are closed.

I have never been very good at predicting the future in specific terms , and neither was Pliny the Elder . I have consulted with a real genuine psychic and a couple of medium sized dogs about when this mess will come to an end . The psychic mumbled some nonsense and wanted money , the dogs said "blah blah blah woof woof" , then wagged their tails in anticipation of a dog treat . I interpreted what the medium sized dogs said to mean the psychic was full of poop .

That's some funny stuff there Dusty

This is killing me guys , the Cedar Vale event is a highlight of the year for many of us , and we just can't be there . I've been in Cedar Vale on or about my birthday probably 26 out of the 66 years on the planet , not being there leaves a hollow feeling .

That said , we will do a rally there as soon as it is safe .

Kirby called from California , he is stateside , not seeing him is tough , although we made some tentative plans .

We can always make a day trip with sack lunch.  Keep social distance.

BTW- since we've "opened up" in OK, folks are everywhere and there's little social distancing.  We should be able to do better than that.

So a ride and meet-up would work.

Mt Scott is open, Okla parks. Lots of drive in eats (Boasted Chicken in Luther Rt 66).  Name a place Dusty but keep your distance.

Less than 1?  It's still on the rise here in OK.

I went to the gym for the first time on Monday.  I didn't quite finish my old routine.  And am pretty sore now.  Back at it tomorrow.

Luther chicken on Sunday?

I'm with Dusty.

I won't lecture anyone , but common sense is indicating a great deal of caution is appropriate in dealing with the current situation . Having nothing to prove about how brave I am allows for that common sense to direct my actions . YMMV .

Normally I would have been taking off for CV about now. Kind of glad I am not as the weather is 45/45. 45 degrees that is with up to 45mph wind gusts plus muddy road to pavement.

Well its alive! After one year, installed charged battery pulled the choke and it fired on the first rev! Some body in the shop walked by and said "what's wrong with that thing?" I said nothing it always sounds like that.

Suited up and went for a spin..ah  75 degrees no wind. Ran out of fuel at the end of the alley switch to reserve and return to the shop for fuel.

Went for an hour (defiantly NON essential!)

The smell of mountain spring air...yipeee.

Spoke with Faith this morning , she says there hasn't been one case in town , knock wood . They haven't started work on the trailer pads yet , maybe mid month since the pool and rodeo grounds are closed . She did ask if we might want the horseshoe pits rebuilt ?

It does feel strange to not be in Cedar Vale , RHAT , our friend from Texas who has been in Hewins Park twice , is very disappointed that his new to him Norge isn't making the trip this weekend , I told him we would have a moment of silence
