The morning was perfect for a ride, so I took Anni on her first tour of South Mountain.  She attracted lots of attention, per usual....

Shoot, that's not usual for me, Guzzi, BSA, or whatever?

I must be doing something wrong, I suppose.

Last week a friend of mine here in Florida asked me to accompany him to NC. He's not a camper so we booked a cabin at Iron Horse campground. We rented a Nissan Titan and carried the bikes up there, his Ninja 1000 and my Norge. Now, he's a life long Florida rider. First day we did the Dragon, then Cherahala. Next day we went to Maggi Valley and the Wheels of Time. His comment was he rode more curves in two days of riding than he's ridden in the last 50 years of riding combined. We are both 65 years old. I get a big kick out of showing people better rides than they've seen before.

THREE FISH ON TWO LINES :thumb:

Beautiful day this morning on the Gulf Coast.  Water rough but clear wind freshening and skies clear.  Rain predicted starting tomorrow.

Time to fish.  Bite on.  Reeled in first line to find Jack #1 tail wrapped but not hooked.  Took #1 to beach.  2nd Jack on hook same line.  Took number #2 to beach.  Looked up to see 2nd pole bent over.
Landed Jack #3.

Jack Crevalle.

Very excellent!  I just finished a six day personal challenge that involved hiking all the trail loops within Frontenac Provincial Park - just over 100 miles in total, through some fairly rough and broken country.  It is six months since my triple-bypass surgery. I now declare myself fit for just about anything (as opposed to fit for nothing  :boozing:).

I just gave about 1/2 of my net worth to an Okie money manager to put into annuities and some conservative investments. The other 20 bucks is going to be spent on a jug of rum tomorrow night.

The kids are in -- my daughter and her boyfriend, and my stepdaughter (Bev's kid). Gail got started on a big lasagna. Cold rain for half an hour around midnight but dawn was severe clear, light north breeze and 35 F, so after breakfast the stepdaughter and I took the Mille out to Hermit's Rest. Below freezing above 9000 feet and some frost on the road in the shady bits. Big snow on the Sangre de Cristo peaks to the south.

Going out and coming back we did a 5mph slalom through a cattle drive -- about 100 head going to winter pasture. Consequently some slippery digestive waste on the pavement in their wake. They amble reluctantly out of the way, pretty much unworried about engine rumble. You just don't want to separate cow from calf because the youngster can decide to  sprint back to mommy and you don't want to intervene.

Brisk ride. Happy to have the fairing and heated grips.

Actually, Saturday.

The owner of the Smash Palace Bar where the Guzzi rally spent a couple of hours in is a keen petrol head; on Thursdays (bike night) you can ride your machine in to the bar!

Anyway, many years ago they used to have beach racing here in Christchurch and the owner, Johnny Moore decided to see if he could organise an event as a commemoration. He got his sister in on the act and together they fought officialdom and got it approved. :thumb:

It was a beautiful warm day, if your bike was before 1985 you could park it in a display, plus there were a whole heap of moderns as well. Some real old timer  beach racers came out of the woodwork, and to see them tearing (or puttering) down the track, wrestling with hand gear changes as they went around the bend, and the smell of Castrol R was really magical.  Sounds as though it was so succesful that he will try to make it an annual event.

Good work Johnny! :thumb:

My new best friend.

Dave, I dated your new best friend for a while last year, and I gotta warn you -- under that perky bottle-blonde façade she's cold blooded.  :police:  Don't let her affectionate nature fool you -- she's a slithering predator.  :thewife:  She talks a good line about her love for small, slow animals and about being cheap to keep ("just keep me warm and let me have a puppy to hug"), and she always wants to hang on you and be your best friend , but she's not to be trusted -- especially around things the size of kittens and puppies.  :copcar: Tex-mex  :food: and symphony  is her favorite date,  :boozing: but she'll also get prettied-up for evenings of pet stores  :food: and soft jazz , or childrens' zoos  :food: and opera .  She'll move into your house and heart,  :azn:  :azn: and when the good times are over she'll snap you like a twig.

Ok.  I might sound a tad bitter,  :violent1: but at the end of the day with that reptile, that's how my day was, so I thought I'd share it here.  :embarrassed: The sad part is that she's moved on to you.   :whip2:  The saddest part is that  nobody will sell me puppies anymore.    I'm sure you'll do better.

Fantastic

I'm a Bass in a choral society and yesterday we sang the magnificent Messiah by G F Handel

I spent the day  (including rehearsal) tingling and the hair on my head standing on end.

A terrific night with some great soloists (bass and soprano in particular) and orchestra

So Chaps (and I mean CHAPS as the ladies out number us 3 to 1) if you have half a mind (and you must have coz you ride a Guzzi) get down to your local society. I'm sure you'll enjoy it

Today I spent some time riding my favourite roads as a birthday present to myself. Had a great time, Met another rider at one stop and chatted and then continued on. Got home just before the thunder and lightning kicked in. Now I'm going to sit down and have a glass or two of wine.

Arrived in AZ today and not a minute too soon.....I need warm weather!  The sound of motorcycles are all around me as it was in the high 80's today.
I start physical therapy for my arm after rotator cuff surgery for muscle reattachment on Tuesday.  For me, I'm hoping to ride my bicycle by News Years.  Hoping to pickup with the motorcycles in May when I get back north.

I will let you all know later in the day. A long, long story but we are having my estranged (was nephew and then legally became a younger brother) over to our house for the first time. The last time we were face to face was at my mother's funeral over three years ago. Hoping for a healing time for both of us.
