We were supposed to go on a breakfast ride, but instead I spent the day fending off a stomach bug.

Great day yesterday!  Temps in the low 50s and sunny.  Needed groceries, so a 12 mile run over hills and paved twisties was in order.  Today promises more of the same weather.  This means a business ride to Winchester, VA for an 80 mile round trip.  Can't go too far because my dog (Beatrice) does not have an infinite bladder.  Great short ride is my plan of the day!

Girls, eh, whatcha gonna do with 'em?   Our Jack has about a 12 hour bladder; house-training him as a puppy took some time ... he got the idea pretty quick, but trying to guess when he needed to "go" was an all-day job!!

Lots of short rides add up to long mileage pretty quick, though!

Sunday I rode my '07 250 MP3 to town (15 mi.) to get us a Pizza & 30 cans of beer + box wine.  Stopped @ 2 stores and ended up spending $65 instead getting more things than  planned.  Nice thing was 2 older guys like me wanted to know all about my Piaggio MP3 as they had never seen 1 before around here.  Spent 1/2 an hour talking to them both before finally heading home.

My 750 Breva has done something like that and I found out it wasn't the battery like I assumed............ ..it was the electrical connection of the main starter wire lead of the hot DC wire.  Even tho the connection wasn't loose, I found by putting a star washer between the female terminal & male terminal  and only then could my starter get enough juice to turn  it over good enough to do it's job.

Do you have a multi meter to test your battery for voltage?   It should read at least 12.5 V. for your starter to work and if the starter still doesn't work, do what I did.  Even b4 I put the washer on I tightened the lead but the starter still was weak.  Apparently there is non visual stuff on the metals that interfere with the electrical connection, whereas the star washer cuts thru it when tightened.  :thumb:  This is the only bike I ever had this happen on.

Just back from a quick trip up to Golden Bay (top of our south Island) on Guzzimodo. Plenty of road works meant a fairly slow trip, and I cooked when we had to wait for up to 10 minutes in the baking sun with all the gear on. Beautiful weather up there and had a nice relaxing time. I did the trip back down on the Sunday when the road workers tend to have a day of. 308 miles to get there.

Bike ran flawlessly. I had quite a load on and the steel belted Metzeler radial on the back really showed its worth as the bike felt really planted. No chicken strips on the back at all now. :thumb:

I think you are referring to Lead Oxide. its an insulating layer that can creep in between the battery post and terminal to completely disconnect the battery.
Magic Star washer fix I haven't heard that since I was on the Suzuki board, cuts through the oxide layer.
Better though to scrape the terminal clean and apply some Vaseline, it provides a greasy layer that the Oxygen cannot penetrate
No Oxygen = No Lead Oxide = permanent connection
Humor me and try it.

I use Vaseline wherever there are 2 dissimilar metals and or wet.

Today was Friday for me. Don't have to be back to work until February 5th.  Will head over to the Guthrie's for the WA Guzzi Club party on Saturday afternoon, then leave from there and hop on the big bird to SE Asia. Really looking forward to warmth and sunshine.  :-)

So far Thailand and Cambodia. Trying to make time for a bit of Vietnam and possibly Laos.  Was hoping to get a 7 day motorcycle tour into Myanmar, but it didn't work out this trip.

Sitting in the message chair at the local nail spa, awaiting my
mani-pedi, sipping a sweet creamy expresso when one of the new girls rushes in to announce that it's snowing.  Everyone rushes to the window to have a look.  It is the first time some of them have ever seen the white stuff. Just a sprinkling that is melting as it hits the ground. The ones commuting in from South Houston are bringing in extra snow so the new girls can make snowballs.

What a delightful way to start the day

Nothing like when I picked up the Griso in early July 2012.  Think it was over 100F every afternoon.  Hope all is well in sunny snowy GA.

Another Saturday coaching Olympic archery.  Started a high school club about 6 years ago with Easton foundation's Olympic Archery in Schools league.  Easton has been very generous, granting all the equipment and training me and others at the Chula Vista California Olympic training center.  As a biology teacher, I've benefited from being a coach (just a community coach) but more importantly have seen the affects of a competitive sport on young people ages 9 to 19... not to mention the adults.  I could never have foreseen the community of dedicated students, parents, and coaches that we have built.  Nearly every Saturday for many years we have gathered at John Muir school in San Diego for practice and friendship.  Our archers have won multiple medals and trophies.  Kids that needed confidence built it one arrow at a time.  Those needing companionship have found lifetime friends.  I've seen kids go to college that may not have otherwise gone.  This year, one of our male archers was accepted to the Olympic 'dream team' of hopeful teen archers working to advance their skill and archery careers.

I sometimes feel selfish and would rather spend Saturdays with myself... but I haven't and I'm glad if it.  No money in it.  It costs me time and treasure.  But the community of lives affected are golden.

I've been invited to go to northwest China mid-January, to attend an academic conference on the origins of skiing in the Altai mountains after the last ice age. Eagerly looking forward to this.

Meanwhile, no natural snow to speak of in Colorado, Utah and Tahoe. I'm booked to teach nine days over the holidays, and it's looking grim -- we'll be on limited hose-blown snow.

Got invited to go for a group ride with my son's group of friends called the Thirsty Thursday :undecided: group.

About 9 bikes showed up, son's 1200 Sporty being the only Hardly, the rest beeing Japanese whizzbangs with an Aprillia thrown in. Hovering around 35 deg. Did the Ashley Gorge ride with a stop at Oxford for refreshments.

Love the ride but cruising Guzzimodo at 85-100mph is probably pushing the wee beast a bit too hard. Also, don't really want to involve P.C. Plod so I think I will leave the next one to them. Bike never missed a beat though. :thumb:

My husband and I took the little Metropolitans out for a coffee and grocery run.  It was bitter cold by Phoenix standards (low 40's  ), and the half a mile ride left my fingers ice, even though they were encased in my new Dainese WS gloves (with an added liner).  I think I need heated grips!!!  Then we returned to get the Odessey to pick up my new riding boots, Joe Rocked Heartbreakers, and look at chicks (bawk-bawk-bagawk!).  We would have ridden, but the Hub's hasn't been feeling up to snuff for a couple of days, and I wanted to warm up.

Whilst at North Valley Honda/Kawi I met a manager named Steven.  He rides a new to him Le Mans, and attended the local MGNOC breakfast last month (his 1st, my 1st was this month), and was planning to take his bike to Tom Hull to "sort out" some fueling issues.  He raced when younger, traveled in the same circles as Tom and thought he was only a Duc man, until the MGNOC breakfast when he asked who they recommended he take his beloved to.  Small world!

Truly, you do meet the nicest people on a Guzzi!

Well the wife had to work today so I thought I would service her 10 v7c, just a oil and filter change as everything else is up to date, so I button it all up and hit the starter to make sure of no leaks and nothing but clicks, doh :violent I guess it's time to change her 4 year old battery.
