I had a friend w/Hondamatic and a Chariot for his wheelchair. He told me he had to take it in every couple months to be tuned up. I looked at him and said "they are screwing you". I usually don't do Honda's but I did this one. I rode it w/folding chair out there. WAS A BLAST. Bars were too low when I tried standing up. He found out what a tune up was like, couldn't believe the difference and changed dealers.

-12c. Nice early morning walk tracking coyotes, deer and fisher.  A great way to burn off a few excess calories after Christmas excesses.

Interesting. Grandkid Max thinks he might want to be a rocket scientist. DIL's girlfriend is married to a secret service guy that works at JPL, so he arranged a "behind the scenes" tour.
Here is where they assemble the space craft. The 2020 Mars mission lander is under construction here..

Turned 21,000 miles on the might GRiSO today!
Not one issue with it except for blown high beam at which dealer handed me a new bulb..sweet.

Was out for a 250mile ride today, temp's from 49-59 degrees.
Hit the highest point in Georgia (Brasstown Bald), then rode over to the highest point in Hiawassee,GA.
This is Bell mountain, and the view is spectacular with the rode to the top feeling nearly straight up!!

Also, saw a couple of engines for sale along the road today..

All in all, a good day. :bike-037:

Brother, oh brethren ...

I have come here not to entertain, but to complain - whine, you might say.

Having spent six months (two separate 3 mo stints) as a free agent in '18, I took an assignment working for the GM of a specialty machine shop that works with weird alloys to make ... stuff customers ask for. Further deponent sayeth not. Some of them probably go into Chuck in Indiana's post above.

The GM says the place is newly certified to the aerospace standard, and " the old sloppy ways won't work any more ".

He further informs me that after getting the barely regulatory compliant systems up to snuff, I would take on the engineering and product planning duties of a fellow he described as " he can be difficult to work with ". I assured him I can work with anybody, but he'll have to offer me appropriate money.

He does, and we agree I'll start in two weeks.

I come back in two weeks, and they inform me that the guy who hired me has passed away, and I'll be working for ... let's call him " Mr. Difficult " .

MD tells me that the regulatory compliance is only window dressing for the benefit of the customers, nobody takes it seriously, and I'm only to sweep up around the edges right before the auditor comes in. My focus shall be on maintaining the status quo and taking over his duties ASAP so he can move into sales.

I give him a reality check, and the game begins. Oh, and they want me in at six AM.

I am giving it my best, while documenting how far off course the regulatory compliance system is, to share with top management next week.

Why did I choose to be born handsome instead of wealthy?

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Sounds like you have a real chance to "Do The Right Thing" here, since you haven't got a lot invested in the company.  If Mr. D is going to be in your shorts all the time, that'll be the hardest job ever.   But if he's off in the Sales and Marketing Puzzle Palace and you get to do your job (and at the price you negotiated), it could be great!

Chuck and I will be over here in the Wealthy and Handsome section cheering you on ....

Spent  hours pruning two pear trees that I couldnt do last year. I should just cut them down instead of picking pears and delivering them because folks are to lazy to come get them. Still have an apple and two plum trees to prune. Last year I let the racoons get the plums and pears I didn't want. Only one non-producing pecan tree left after the tornado. When I used to have loads of pecans I gave some to a lady that complained she didn't know she had to shell them I told her I don't have a tree that drops the pecans and makes a pie.

No one wants to work. Guess I'll end up selling my spread and moving to the Veterans Home.

New year's Eve day ride on the Mighty One.
300 miles, all kinds of weather heading up through Blue Ridge,GA and on to Tellico Plains,Tn.
Covered about half the Cherohala Skyway, turned back-it was so froggy out I couldn't see!
Snow on the Skyway, made me a ☃️ to prove it !
Early gold mining, old train trestles, temperature swings and interesting people..
This whole "GRiSO Experience" is not to be missed.

Good edit and it's very true.   Most of what I have and appreciate is due to that little fact.

On the other hand, it wasn't just luck .... !!

Starting to get my ducks (geese?   :cheesy: ) in a row for retirement. Been to the retirement councilor. Got a plan laid out. About to get new hearing aides.  Got my MMJ card.  FMLA approved for my last 6 months of work, so I can begin burning sick leave. (And go to Cedar Vale, ha ha ) Looks like the last day of April is my last. 33 years of airline mechanic. 12 years as a steelworker. Couple years on the railroad. other odd jobs. Will need a new hobby to fill the days. Beside growing autoflower...

Right now looking for a new camping method. I gave my cot tent to my grandkids to play in. Too much work doing the limbo getting in and out of the dang thing every couple hours to wizz, lol. So, I'll get a bigger tent with a cot to sleep on, or a van, or...  I hope to get to more rallies or NARs.
