Not to start an 8V fuel economy argument, but....

You seem to be saying that people are seeing returns of 45 - 50mpg on Griso SEs ?

I really don't believe that.

I've owned two Guzzis that can do that.  A V7 Classic and my carb'd Sport 1100 with Keihin FCR41 carbs.

Everything else has been 30s, including the Sport 1100 when it had Dellortos.

And, every thread I recall reading indicates 8v fuel economies in the 30s.

Styling wise, what would a nice looking number or icon look like for the new engine displacement?

I am assuming it will have a capacity that puts it the market segment for the sub 900cc Triumph twins and Ducs.

V9? Carlo? Casanova?  ;D

Pete is running one of Mark's (Beetle's) modified maps.  I have yet to try one (plan to) but everything I've read points to improved fuel economy.  I'm looking forward to it, just need to get the cable and such.

But that's what I got yesterday Mike. 80 mph freeway and five miles of stop/start in godawful Sydney traffic. Ambient temp of about 70*F. I really have no reason to make stuff like that up! :D if I'd been travelling slightly slower I might of got it up another couple of mpg but I really wasn't aiming for economy per-se, just wanting to get into and out of the Stinking Wen as quickly as possible without getting an 'Encouragement Award' from a tax inspector.

And yes, I'm running Mark's map for the Mistral Hi-Pipe with a dB killer fitted. Performance is just like being attached to the horizon by a very strong rubber band!

I got 45mpg on several tanks on my Griso, using the last two maps.  It ran much better than stock, no flat spots and good pull too.  I get about 43 -+ on the 1190.

Looks like it was influenced by some of Arlen Ness's designs with some additional input from batman.

Looks like a Guzzi copy of the Honda F6B.  it may be what brings the younger crowd in though.

I may have missed it before, but when did Guzzi start putting the ® mark next to the logo?  I went back to the MG web page and only the recent stuff has it.  They used to be casual about that sort of thing and never bothered.

The exhaust looks to slope down ward. I think it would look cleaner straight back parallel with ground. I don't like the red on it either. Make it polished or all black. Then replace the front wheel with one that is not solid and shapeless. Last the big whatever they are by the foot controls need to go. I would rather see linkages and such than what ever those things are. The rest I kind of like.

God I hope this is not the direction for future Guzzis. Would be hard for me to imagine anything less appealing.

P.S. What in the hell are those plates down by the foot controls? Do they have a purpose other than making it even uglier?

I don't see it.  The Honda has a frame mounted fairing and an arse that's a mile wide.

The MGX-21 has a fork mounted fairing and a slim rear treatment.

if anything, it's a streamlined stalker of the Road Glide.

I understand that, like any other manufacturer, Guzzi needs to respond to market demands in order to sell bikes and prosper. I am an avid fan of our beloved brand and have supported it by buying several new models over the past years, as well as preserving a couple of old ones. However, if this prototype embodied the direction that Piaggio was going to take for the bulk of its production, personally I would find it very sad and unfortunate. In this prototype, Guzzi, in my opinion, nearly abandoned its roots and left nary a hint of Italian style or European sensibility in general -- the qualities I adore about my Guzzis, aside from them being a sublime, soulful, and reliable, riding machine, of course.

Does Guzzi/Piaggio truly need to turn to mimicking another well-known make's strong points in order to sell more and prosper? Does it need to capture that audience at all? I don't know... Maybe... Personally, I think it's unfortunate if so, and it has nothing to do with bashing any other brand; rather preserving the unique qualities of the GUZZI brand... Moving along with the times and bringing about technical improvements does not have to be done at the cost of losing the classic elements -- or does it? Do we love Guzzis for the elements -- of style or functionality -- that are antiquated and cannot be brought into the modern age? I don't think so, and to me the recent model lineup -- and its obvious success -- is the best manifestation of that. One would think they could capitalize on the success of the current lineup by bringing about functional improvements to the current models that the owners (and all the people that would be owners) are wishing for, and not just changing the paint scheme...  And as far as styling -- good taste is timeless.

Yes, I think it's un-Guzzi and emanates the styling cues more fitting to a Central CA hotrod rather than an Italian motorcycle made in Mandello del Lario. Rant over :)

I don't understand why anyone is worried about this.
You don't think that they'll actually build it and sell it do you?
C'mon - really...  Do ya?  It's a concept bike.
Remember those weird Terblanche things from a few years ago?  We're not riding them are we?

As a concept goes - I like it.  I like the red heads.  I like the red calipers.  I would get rid of the red tip on the fender.
I think that more than anything, it serves to make non Guzzzi riders take notice of the brand and start to consider it in a different light.

Just my opinion...

Merged the MGX-21 thread into the EICMA thread since it had already been discussed at length.

Anyway...  Show me the bags on this so-called "bagger"...   ???

And please, let's dispense with the F6B comparisons:

Yup, this.. Though even if they did build it, hell it wouldn't effect the Griso or Stelvio.
