re-installing swingarm instructions

I am about to re-install a freshly repainted swing arm in my T-3.  I always struggle with getting the assembly back in place.  I'd really like to hear of how others get this job done without resorting to a string of expletives, a few skinned knuckles and a lot of chipped paint.  Thanks.

Get the frame up high enough to point the swing arm straight down.

Get the bearings and such in place

Now take a look at the inside of the frame where the swing arm is going to go.  You'll see it's actually relieved to let the swing arm slide in neat and even from side-to-side, if you give it the right down angle on the tail.  That angle is about the max deflection of the u-joint.

So with the tail pointed down and the left and right bearings starting in those relieved channels evenly, start the u-joint onto the spline and simply push the swing arm into place.  Add pivot pins to keep it in place.

I can do this alone in about 45sec with no swearing at all unless I bang a finger.

I leave off the rear drive unit so it is lighter
I have the u-joint, drive shaft and coupler in place
I attach the boot to the tranny
I rotate the ujoint, so the input spline is pointing kinda at the right angle naturally
I jam my finger into the coupler so I can rotate the u-joint and get it to engage the output spline
I have the left side shock handy so I can hang the swingarm from it once home
Of the 4 big frame bolts (2 per side to attach lower frame rail), 1 only one per side (the rearmost), and I do not insert them beyond flush on the inside

The whole point is that the OP now knows how to do it without skinned knuckles, scraped paint, etc. The tricks of the trade? Priceless.  ;-T
