LM IV opinions, info

My sidestand is a bit short with the 18" wheel. Did I read that some other tonti sidestand legs are longer?

I don't want the police stand with the rail issues and I have no idea how it looks or works hard in a corner.


I need to buy mirrors for my '85 LM 1000. I can go stalks or bar ends; anybody have photos of a IV with fairing and mirrors you particularly like? I don't much care for the dumbo effect of stockers (which are not an option anyway) but not sure how bar ends would look with the fairing. I thought these, perhaps;

You might look at Halcyon bar end mirrors. I have the rectangular ones on some of my bikes. They are well made and are stainless, they come from England.

Of course, the LM 4 is merely  ;D 5/4 scale copy of the Lario.. here's what it looks like with crg bar end mirrors..

Oh, forgot. You could always put that 16" wheel back on there.. :)

The stock centerstand is short for the 18" front, even with the forks raised in the trees about an inch.  Next time I have my stand off I'll have a welder add another layer of strap on the feet.

It would seem that the 1000S or Strada/SP III would have a longer sidestand. Mounted in the same position as a LM 4 and all have an 18" front wheel. They do have different part nos. but whether they're longer or not? For reference:

1000S: 2843 2163
SPIII/Strada: 2843 3201 (superceded 2843 2010)

I don't have any pics, but I have some solid functional Napoleon fairing mounted mirrors on mine. Bit boring japanese looking but hey, they're mirrors!

Ok, measuring from the center line of the stand perpendicular to the stand foot is 296 mm. Roughly.  ;D

wow that's nearly 2" longer than mine. I'll have to put it down and check it with some blocks, I'd hate to have it too long.

Ok, went to my pile of "in my lifetime" Good Guzzi Junk and measured an unidentified Tonti stand. It's 325 mm. We are talking the same thing? Right. center line of the pivot to the perpendicular of the foot. Of course, the foot is radiused, so there's a little eyeballing involved.

Here's mine, from pivot bolt center to foot is only about 235mm. Hmph.

Mine is a little harder to measure, deployed (turgid?) - but 235mm is about what I get.
